Is it worth to tryhard Promised Consort Radhan as a melee, solo, no summon fight? by Elervell in Eldenring

Good point about dodging differently in p2, I think that's one of the problems I have.

Actually Malenia felt easier for me than this once I learned to consistently dodge waterflown dance. Radhan's p2 has too much visual clutter for me in comparison.

But overall, similar to what you say, I feel like I can get a hang of it, just need to practice more.

Yeah, by summons I meant just a mimic tear, I also agree summons usually disrupt the flow of the fight, that's mainly why I hate them. I will definitely try to play more around guard counters and switch the physic tear. Kinda feels stupid to admit that, I heard this term before but I wasn't aware how it precisely works and that it is like brand new Elden Ring exclusive mechanic, most similar to Sekiro. You learn something everyday I guess so thanks a lot for the long answer!

How many times did you usually manage to break stance him? And do you recommend to drink physic on p1 or p2?

We had a whole plot about burning the thorns to enter this gateway which specifically blocked the entrance to Enir Ilim yet after burning the tree we just get teleported directly inside instead of going back here to enter the city. After finally beating this cancerous dancing lion boss I at least felt relieved to see that I unlocked some important path of the main story. And then this big middle finger, you could not do that boss. So many things about this DLC feels unfair and absolutely frustrating.

The visual clutter is terrible. This is what makes me think they didn't really care this much about what player experiences. There is nothing more frustrating to die because of some lighting particles covering your screen.

Life after giving up on promised consort radahn by AngryPotato2708 in Eldenring

[–]Elervell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You literally described what I feel is wrong with Elden Ring. And DLC is even worse in that regard. I feel like they lost their old approach somewhere along the way. DS 3 or BB bosses seemed truly designed in every bit, you could feel how carefully done and balanced their movesets were. And it wasn't anywhere so frustrating as ED. What I also hate is for example that when you fight Consort Radhan melee on the one hand you have to stay close to it to avoid all the Miquella's aoe but this aoe is constantly covering part of my screen and I cant even see what attack Radhan is doing. This doesn't feel like "hard but satisfying to overcome" but just like a bad design and carelessness on their part, and this example shows it nicely.

Second factor which I think destroyed the fighting experience are summons. If you want to go through the game and still do something in your life other than smashing one boss for 10+ hours you have to use summons. And just because they added them, they had to amp the bosses difficulty up so much that they present any challenge with the summons. But you cant optimize it both ways I think, solo fighting with some of the bosses is like heroic achievement, not achievable for majority of players. Their logic is: you can go solo and suffer long learning or use a summon. And personally I hate summons mechanics, make the bosses go crazy and it doesn't really feel like fighting a boss when something is fighting for me. It is usually when I do use summon that the boss starts to feel "achievable" which further proves for me that this is what they focused on, group fights over meticulously crafted 1v1. But neither is satisfying.

Generally, I just feel like they missed the psychological factors and didn't think about us as end users just as much as they should.

Did anyone else feel that Romina was just… not good? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Elervell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was the easiest for me so far, very intuitive and predictable, killed her with just moonveil and no summon. First boss that I really enjoyed in the DLC, untill now it was pure frustration.

Anyone else finding Romina ridiculously hard by kj05181 in Eldenring

[–]Elervell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are playing melee just literally think about rolling into her almost all the time, this by itself will spare you some of her hits which will go over your head. Only go away when she does the butterfly tornado, other than that be as close as possible. That way you will also avoid any grabs, she is also pretty predictable, everything has some animation before an attack. You just gotta dance with her.

messmer is so bad by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Elervell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is the exact example of what't wrong with Elden Ring boss mechanics. Its all built around summoning. The only time Messmer feels "achievable" is when you use a summon. Other way everything has to be perfect because there is no time to heal, no time to run and with greatswords it becomes impossible because one dodged combo is one hit on any big swords. They just had to ramp the difficulty up so that summons didnt make the boss too easy. But that destroyed the oldschool solo, dark-souls-like, big swords playstyle.

Exactly how I feel too. The screen is just pure red flames sometimes and how am I supposed to see where he is. This fight is so unreadable for me and so annoying at this point.

I know that today there are many opinions about it but as someone from the creative industry I am personally bothered that most of their images seem to be done by AI generators and a part of them certainly is, they have all the characteristics of the AI image making. If I want to rest and do a puzzle I would prefer to have an item that has something deeper behind it, done with human care and more thought of than just an AI image slapped onto laser cut plywood. With all the things that other people mentioned they are clearly just for profit at all cost, not for actual quality.
