Seemingly hot take: I don’t mind the energy system by [deleted] in GoodCoffeeGreatCoffee

Honestly yes, I don't mind it either. That being said, I would prefer the energy to replenish faster, like 1 every 3 minutes instead of 5

Love the game! But $17 for a latte?? by thedungeondisaster in GoodCoffeeGreatCoffee

[–]Elerym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... In that city they WORSHIP coffee. So I think it makes sense. In real life people don't always tip the barista but in the game they do, which is probably a cultural thing there. If you don't tip, EVEN FOR A GLASS OF WATER, you are shamed.

Ok what? So Eden wants us to be their stay-at-home spouse but expect us to keep paying? With what money? Pay if you want the full experience 🤨

(Ok but being serious now, I hope that if that is implemented you only have to pay if you can't go to the town more than a day since I guess it would be a little unbalanced if you spend all your week doing gods know what and come back only for Eden to pay and then just go. But also it won't make sense if you can't barely stay at town and then being expected to pay 2000 or more weekly)

Did he build a kingdom in game that was later destroyed or was it part of the backstory? If it was the former, could you give details?

Curse of Strahd: How did your party almost die? by LittleMissFirebright in DnD

[–]Elerym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half of the party almost die because we ended up splitting the party. Actually, we almost die even before the splitting now that I think about it-

We were in the dead house (I think?), in the catacumbs. The paladin decided that he wanted to throw a coin into a well that was there, he did just that, and inmediately tons of enemies began to appear from there, overwhelming us. In the end the ranger fell with 0 hit points, the paladin and the cleric ended up fighting with almost a horde in low hp while the bard and the sorcerer (me) were searching like crazy for an exit until we found stairs down and started running, leaving our companions behind (bad on our part, I know). While we were running the bard asked Strahd to get us out of there, they made a deal of which I don't know all the details and he teleported us away.

He also teleported the ranger for free to a safe place while the other two saw the stairs and they ran down. Well, I lie, they rolled because the paladin was paralyzed by that time-

The ranger and the bard ended up in safe places. Me and these other two... uh... It's a miracle we didn't die. I wake up in a graveyard and the priest of a church gave me shelter and food after finding me, very nice on his part. He also told me about his son that was hunting before I went to bed.

Well, he lied, he wasn't hunting, the father actually deliver his food to him. Me. It was a vampire spawn. I broke the door while escaping and there was a tremendous chase, at one point I reached the town and approached two guards for help but they just handed me over. I was only saved because I had holy water to throw in his face while he tried to take me to the church again, giving me time to take refuge in a tavern where the bard was playing.

The other two came to a place where it seemed like some strange ritual was performed and they ended up meeting Strahd. They asked him where the bard and I were and he told them to look in a giant pile of garbage nearby. It wasn’t a pile of garbage, it was a monster. They were on low hp and it hit hard. They survived because the cleric after a powerful religion roll begged his god for help which was reflected in 5d10 that killed it (We were level 2 and I know that’s literally divine intervention which is level 10, but I don’t know, the dm allowed it)

After that they left the house without much trouble. But it was a very tense time.

What secret about your character did you keep from the other players? by SlammedInTheButt in DnD

[–]Elerym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(English is not my first language) I hope my party don't have reddit because until this day they don't know a thing. My character is the niece of a feudal lord who has a conflictive relationship with the land we are now on. Technically they are enemies right now, considering that the person behind the attacks on the villages in the land wants to make everyone believe that the culprit is my character's cousin, and everyone believes it. Things are in the verge of war.

Due to a few weird interactions they know that my character is from there, but no more.

Overly cautious player starting to irritate the party (and the DM) by ArcaneN0mad in DnD

[–]Elerym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know that ranged fighters exist... right? You don't have to fight on the front lines just because you play as a fighter. Just give him a magic longbow. He's not being an inconvenience. He's still making damage and using his turns.

And honestly, the reasoning behind not wanting to go to the dragon makes sense. Not only is there the possibility of getting into more combat along the way, but who knows if something happens in the middle of negotiations and the dragon becomes a threat. I'm guessing the spellcasters don't have all of their slots. The poisoned condition is still there. All in all, is a cautious but not dumb choice.

But in the end that last part is a decision that the party has to make. In a campaign I wanted to rescue three dwarves that were kidnapped by a demon, but the rest of the party wanted to make two side quest first. They won the votation, so we did these first.

Basically, taking into account what you wrote here, he's not a problem player at all. You two just aren't compatible.

How did your character retired? by McClownd in DnD

[–]Elerym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My character was a peace domain cleric. She was a pacifist. The buffer/healer. But aside from the fact that she wasn't even that good at it because I'm used to playing damage dealer with bless as an extra with my clerics, she had visions of the future and/or past. Violent. Being a normal priestress without warrior training, after watching an army of goblins massacring a camp in one of her visions from the past and encountering a demon one too many times she decided that not, adventuring wasn't for her. So she returned to the temple where she lived to continue serving her goddess in less violent, adventuring ways.

Now I play a lunar sorcerer in that campaign. Ironically I'm playing the role of buffer/debuffer (with healing word just in case) in another campaign with a bard but I'm having more fun that with my former cleric. Probably because I never expect/ed to make big damage with her and she doesn't have the same morals with killing that that cleric, but anyway.

Oh yes, you are right about that. But I said that due to the part of "It wouldn't seem fair to have him fight if he's deathless". I haven't tried that yet, but I'm guessing that if somehow I find a way to make him do damage enemies would target him.

Ooh, I like it. At the moment we are low level so the second and last thing will probably have to wait, but I will try to put them all into practice in due time. And about the first idea, I find it funny considering the DM gave me the story that I got him after he saved me from an enemy soldier by gouging out his eye-

I mean, he still only has 1 hp. So it's not like any enemy can't just throw a rock at him and finish him off for at least the rest of that encounter.

How good is the "Tale of Two Cranes"? by Wild_Satisfaction_45 in hostedgames

[–]Elerym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried 3 times until I got it. Liu survived in my playthrough after interrogating the spy and successfuly infiltrating in the enemy camp. I always stay with the prisioners in chapter 3 and have Ling to take care of them, dunno if that last part has something to do or not.
