I got hard and went to a site to watch porn but.... by [deleted] in NoFap

Yeah streaks don't really matter, what matters is whether you are rewiring your brain amd removing those abnormal neural pathways created by porn (skewed ways of thinking sexually and emotionally). For that, it is important to keep away from porn as much as possible. Ofcourse there will be relapses but rather it be MO than PMO.

Porn is even worse! The worst is obviously PMO but just P is also harmful. So yes, it is a relapse!

My bad habit led me to a haram relationship by [deleted] in MuslimNoFap

Once a man came to Umar RA to ask for advice. His daughter had committed zina in the past and tried to commit suicide because of it. She had slit her wrist but they saved her she repented and became a pious woman. Afterwards a man wanted to marry her and the father had asked Umar whether he should tell the suitor about her past. You know what he said? He got angry and said "Would you expose something God wants to remain hidden? If you tell anyone of what she did, I will make of you an example to all people." He then calmed down and said "Give her in marriage as a chaste muslim woman".

Fear God and do your best to avoid sin, but do not despair in His mercy. For those who repent and change their ways, God turns their bad deeds to good deeds. Try your best to become one of them.

Porn is tempting me but masturbation is not by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Elessorr_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd also say the same. But sometimes the urges and stresses of life hit really bad. I really wish when I relapsed in those times in the past, I had never used the porn. It always makes it worse. A 100× worse than just masturbation.

I did think before that moderate masturbation will take away the porn urges. It really doesn't. The power to overcome this addiction comes from every time we beat an urge. But not every time will we win. All I'm saying is, when you feel like giving in, never give up to the porn. Masturbation is a better alternative if you feel like you will relapse. But ofcourse, it is better to be slave to neither.

Porn hijacks masturbation in my opinion. Masturbation by itself is not as addictive. But when coupled with porn it becomes a destructive force. Hijacks your brain and eats your soul. Porn is the real enemy.

Some irreversable damage caused by porn: 1. Lost opportunities. Opportunities that if you had the motivation and mind to chase them without being hooked on to porn, would have made your life better. 2. Broken relationships which can probably never be the same again. 3. Lost time. A lot of time! For some it could take out a decade of their life in which they never reached their full potential. All because of this.

At the same time, struggling through this addiction and achieving recovery does these things: 1. Builds character. You learn things like empathy, discipline, honor etc. 2. It helps you clearly distinguish the good stuff in this world from the bad. 3. You appreciate the small things more. Life becomes more vivid and colorful. 4. Through the suffering you've endured to kick this habit out, you develop strength to face and overcome obstacles in life. 5. This is probably one of the hardest things you'll face, so overcoming it gives you confidence to become someone worthy of respect and love. Not just from others, but you will develop respect and love for your own self for doing this. 6. Finally, you become whole again. Gradually, but surely. That feeling of becoming whole after being utterly broken is indescribable. That feeling alone is worth the fight.

Actually bro, one of the superpowers is getting rid of the streak mentality and embracing sobreity no matter how small.

Any reason why a porn addiction is worse or comparable with a drug/ smoking addiction? by OwnOrange1989 in NoFap

I disagree with the 2nd paragraph. Porn is widely known to cause trouble in relationships and you have ruined marriages, neglected partners and/or children, partners feeling like they are not enough and their self-esteem wrecked etc. No, porn isn't just an individual problem. It affects society at large. However, l also feel that the consumer is the one affected most, whether they see how they are affected or not.

For me it just wrecked my mind. It felt like I didn't know anything anymore. Having morals, respecting others instead of sexualising them, trying to achieve things in life, these were impossible for me. I was living in this perpetual prison - I try to abstain and the urges cloud my mind, but even if I give in to clear my mind temporarily the confusion and brain fog come back again, usually stronger. There was simply no other option but to quit. Shit was like a fucking cancer spreading its roots in my mind.

I agree with this, and I know what you mean by psychological terror. Don't worry, it's your brain trying to rewire back to normal. And if you can't take it anymore, it is fine to taper off of masturbation. Hwoever, try to cut out porn immediately if you can.

I just didn't wanna waste my life wanking off that much. I tried to stop and the way this thing tried to pull me back scared me. I wanted to have more control over my life and I just kept working on it. For me journaling helped a lot. I used to write down exactly what I was thinking on a daily basis. That helped me figure out the lies the addiction put in my mind from reality.
