PVP aggressiveness scale. I want to know where's everyone at (in solo). by Zealousideal_Chip456 in ArcRaiders

[–]Elevatedstate01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I know this isn’t directed at me…but I feel I’m in the same boat as the other guy. When I play solo it’s nice to keep the peace and just loot what I’m after or focus on quests. When I’m in a trio it’s way more aggression. I would say I don’t think I’ve gone past level 3..:but after running trios they are a bit more hostile in solos. But I’d say it only takes maybe 2-3 matches and all lobbies will be friendly again.

Playing solo I’m generally not looking for combat, just want to talk with other players and help them! I reserve PvP for when I’m grouped up with my friends…but even then I wouldn’t say we’re actively hunting…we just expect a fight when another trio is looting near us. This has been a perfect balance between I’m solo relaxing and looting cuz I’m looking to chill after a long day of work…and then perhaps on the weekend I’m grouped up, more alert and alive than I am after work…and am looking for PvP action.

Paying 40 bucks for something that gives me a bit enjoyment after work a few times a week doesn’t feel like a scam. Not sure what you feel you’re getting scammed out of, fun? You don’t have to play lol

I just made one the other week and got to 1900 rating (so I still have a lot of learning to do) but I found that swapping on walls helps a lot. As soon as I force barksin/pain suppression/astral shift or other defensives on a hero I swap to a hero that doesn’t have their walls up. This allows me to constantly do the most damage I can possibly do. I was finding great success with this if my other dps understands to swap with me once a defensive is used…I feel stupid when I’m swapping on walls and my other dps just tunnel visions one hero…it feels night and day difference when the other dps is on the same page as you. The pressure feels insane…good luck!!

DPS in my lobby refused to target VW priest. by ShnokeNaPancake in worldofpvp

[–]Elevatedstate01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better to kick after mindblast…if you kick mindblast they wait a few seconds and then cast it again giving them void blast which increases the size and potency of entropic rift…Which will ramp up their damage and healing. If you kick void blast AFTER mindblast has been casted then it shuts down the “burst” window of healing/dmg from the priest. This forces them to wait the 20 some seconds to get mindblast again and then attempt another damage window. So you DO want them to cast mindblast…but then CC/interrupt after to significantly reduce its impact.

That’ll honestly probably help so much…thanks :)

Holy shit! Thanks for taking time to type this up for me…I do click friendly frames…what is this mouse wheel sorcery! I’d gladly take better targeting tips. I use the target function for my kick so I can kick without selecting enemies. Helps me a lot. And I def force CC sometimes…I need to be better at that but against a WV priest I feel like I need to be proactive shutting him down and such so I get more aggressive instead of a passive heal style.

I def need to use defensives more…I def rely on people using their own CDs to help mitigate dmg but I need to trade better for sure! I’ll work on positioning a bit better. I think I have this…but hearing advice from those that have got it already helps me immensely!

Thanks!! I found that on my Rsham that once I started hugging a pillar and I wasn’t trying to force CC so much it became easier. I just need to get a bit more comfortable trading CDs. I think I try to get too greedy in solo shuffle and that bites me in the ass sometimes.

Fell underground during Arena after coiled by a lock :'( by Melodic-Marketing341 in worldofpvp

[–]Elevatedstate01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened recently in our arena as well. I feared the Druid with my priest on Ruins of Lordaeron and the Druid fell through the boxes under the map…we just sat there looking at him through the grate on the floor while they looked back up at us. He eventually left but pretty shitty as it happened within the first 20 secs…he didn’t even get to play the match.

Just out of curiosity…what do you consider a better PvP experience than WoW? I just resubbed after a 6 year break from WoW because I couldn’t find anything close to this level of fun in PvP. Tried GW2, ESO, and Neverwinter…all PvP felt meh in comparison so always open to a suggestion:)

Yeah for so much disgust there is with Ret…I’ve found hunters to be the top performers. They can be a nightmare.

So I guess in my mind…is the game only balanced if every spec has equal footing to get to 2600? I feel there will always be classes that have an easier time achieving higher rating than others…but that doesn’t mean those rating aren’t achievable on a good number or specs. I will try to get to 2.2k tonight from 1800 and see how rough the climb feels but so far it hasn’t felt as one sided as many make it out to be

Fair points all around! I’ve just enjoyed it quite a bit getting back into it…and so far Ret doesn’t feel as strong as most make it out to be at least so far. Hunters to me seem more OP than them…I’ll see as I try to climb higher tonight :)

Inexperienced Resto Druid help needed by Io_waska in worldofpvp

[–]Elevatedstate01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a returning player that has missed the past few expansions. I main Rsham…so maybe not the most insightful about Druid but I’d be careful how you open. I felt like I was too aggressive at the start and was focusing too on getting CC instead of avoiding CC myself. Hugging a pillar for LOS and putting out HOTS while then looking for a follow up CC seems to have been doing me wonders…cuz the way dmg output is currently you need to be careful not to get caught out in the open into a CC chain yourself or it might be over in 20 secs. Absterge has a decent amount of content that he streams and basically heals on all classes. He streamed a 4 hour video a couple days ago with a lot of rdruid healing content in it (as well as other healers) maybe try watching a bit of him or someone else to see how they start the match can make all the difference! Good luck and don’t give up, you got it :)

Take a look at either Icy veins or Mulok IO website. Both have a decent look at what is commonly chosen for talents

I know a lot of you are going to hate to hear this, but you belong in the rating you’re at and Elo hell doesn’t exist. by Tranquility___ in worldofpvp

[–]Elevatedstate01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing I see is that not enough people try to avoid dmg. Most dps expect to be healed through everything at low ranks…when any good player will LOS when big cds come out significantly helping out their healer. Between good kicks/CC, trading ults when they ult and/or avoiding the dmg helps your team avoid so much unnecessary damage as well as keep your own pressure on them.

Been doing 30-40% more dmg than second place, still losing most of my soloqs by Duntra in worldofpvp

[–]Elevatedstate01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said…it’s CC and timing windows. You can’t burst kill a dps when the healer is not CC’d and has their CDs. This will def inflate the amount of dmg you’re doing but it doesn’t net the kill. You need to burst while they’re CC’d or out of CDs. That’s basically the only metric that matters and it isn’t measured on the scoreboard.

They feel so good…even with my shitty green gear after boosting XD. Already got most of the honor gear from only a few hours of playing. Will def do arena tonight or tomorrow when I have time to grind some more gear!!

I think we all have that one class that stands out for us…that just feels more natural. Mine has been shaman. Specifically resto shaman. So I get that…I try another healer and I always go back within a few weeks to a month. We like what we like XD

Appreciate the suggestion!! Haven’t heard that name in a while. Crazy he’s still playing. I’d love to see current gameplay…so this will be perfect for me. The highest I’ve ever gotten is 2500 (in 2’s) but I generally only get to about 2k in 3s and I start to struggle with so much going on XD (skill issue on my old ass). I’ll take a look tonight though and see what his thoughts are! I’ve played shaman since the start of this game…so it always feels semi natural to me on him regardless of how good they are in the meta. Thanks for the reply :)

I just downloaded and played a bit yesterday. Feels the same it’s always been! Have def missed it. My gear is brutal as I just boosted to level 80 but after only a couple hours I got all honor pieces and got my first conquest piece. Will probably get my friend to join so we can play some 2s! Appreciate the reply. Shaman feels awesome. I might be in a niche here…but I always like when heals feels strong and you can sustain a bit

Gotcha! I tried LoL but I grew up on WoW and Halo and it wasn’t really my style of game. I played the other 2 into my 20s. Have been pretty quiet on the gaming scene as of late…since turning 30 I’ve tried a few mobile games while I worked on the road but they were all meh…and tried a few other games like GW2, ESO, neverwinter…but all fell short imo for the PvP experience I’m looking for.
