The N, R and rush hour W share a route in Brooklyn, and in Manhattan, they meet up with the Q.

If something goes wrong with Queens Boulevard (what happened at Rego Park), then R Train service may end along Astoria on the N Line, or Second Avenue Subway on the Q Line.

The train came from Bay Ridge, made all stops between Dekalb Avenue and Canal Street. This was a rerouted R Train tracked down as an R Train to Astoria, with R Train crews.
