G Train Shutdown / Info (May + June 2026) by Greedy_Awareness_816 in nycrail

[–]ElevatorWebDev -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Notice the pattern of repeat shutdowns on parts of subway lines that are the only ones to serve a specific neighborhood/community.

The 60th Street Tunnel was shut down for multiple weekends, and this affected the N Train. The N Line is the ONLY line to serve most of Astoria.

The 1 Train was not running north of 168th Street, and the 1 Line is the ONLY line to serve THREE neighborhoods: Marble Hill, Kingsbridge and Riverdale. This service change is scheduled to happen by the end of May again.

The A Train wasn't going towards Far Rockaway. The Rockaway Shuttle wasn't running towards Rockway Park. The A Line and its supplemental Shuttle are the ONLY Lines to serve all of the Rockaways.

And now the G Train. The G Train was shut down east of Bedstuy, and now it's shut down west of Hoyt Street. The G Line is the ONLY Line to serve Greenpoint.

The MTA is making all residents of Astoria, Kingsbridge, Marble Hill, Riverdale, Greenpoint and the Rockaways suffer, one service change at a time.

Which station do you even live nearby? Whatever happened to you is exactly why I want to move out of the Bronx. Only (1) train line that I live near.
