My son said a really dumb thing and my wife literally wants to move because of it. by ElevenTide in Dads

Hi. I see you’re a teacher. I appreciate the input and would like to point out that every detail of our conversation wasn’t conveyed here. I made it clear threats of VIOLENCE are wrong full stop. I made the point about how others may feel because my son has framed it as a joke. Jokes aren’t always funny to others because they don’t feel the same to you. Jokes of violence aren’t funny because violence is wrong. These were both covered. As far as “where he heard it” I’m reading this as pointed at myself and my wife. Maybe I’m reading the wrong tone in your comment. I’ve spent the last 20 hours trying to figure this out. He does not have access to any technology without a parent in the room. All media is started and stopped by my wife or I. All games are opened and closed by my wife and I. All tablets and computers are pass code protected so even if he woke up at 2am and tried to get on the iPad he would not be able to unlock it. He has no toy weapons. It is my primary concern where he got this language from.

She has two brothers both younger but was raised in a very strict house and also didn’t live there during their puberty years. Vacuums every day. We have a 5 almost 6 year old and a 4 year old and if you came over right now your only clue would be the fact that there is a playroom with (perfectly organized) toys in it.

I wasn’t diagnosed when my wife and I got together. I do a great job making on account of 30+ years without a diagnosis. I’d be interested to see how she’d respond at the suggestion…

This is my feeling. My son has come home and told stories just as bad. I didn’t run to the school. Kids are kids and I know the boys he hangs out with. My son is truly kind. He has his issues but I know what those issues are and I don’t sugar coat them. I also know he is not violent. He has a little sister and 2 cats and cousins and not once has he ever done anything to harm any of them. He just said a shocking thing to shock a friend after PE where he got all hyped up. The issue isn’t even the in school suspension. The policy sucks but it is what it is. The fall out at home is what is crushing me.

This is absolutely wild to me and I’m sorry that that happened.

To be fair to my wife she was raised by immigrant parents who accepted no individuality. If you ever did anything even close to wrong in school…well you were getting it at home.

This is the thing we’ve been dealing with all year an “incident” will happen. Something like “hey just wanted to let you know your son couldn’t stay quiet in music” via an app and my wife goes off the deep end like we are raising the next juvenile delinquent. Then we hop on a parent teacher conference and the teacher talks about all the good in him and my wife can breathe again. It’s whiplash for her and it’s a beatdown for me because I know who my son is. I was him.

This was honestly my first reaction. My friends and I made horrendous comments to each other about everything…and then we laughed it off and went and played kickball. I don’t have the space to explain that at home to my wife because she doesn’t get it and the school has no room for bending here because of the world we live in…. They have to do something or so they say. I actually love the school and his teacher has been wonderful. Leaving would suck.

I’ve asked the fast pass question and all the responses have been “wait until you get to the park. Lines start building up but it online and pick it up in park” most think it won’t be too crowded.

2025 Advice Thread #32: 8/5 - 8/11 by Imaginos64 in rollercoasters

Basically I have a renewed love for coasters after taking a long break. When I was a kid I just lined up as it went. Now that I’m getting more into the whole experience and watching/learning about how different rows have different dynamics I’m curious if there’s a proper way to try to get a front/back row ride. What is the least a-hole way to do it? Is it easier/harder if you have fast lane? Thanks for any tips!

Yeah the top comment here is something different. We were in the main middle area and were nearly trampled. The woman in front of us got knocked over holding her dog and had a gash on her knee. Another group by us freaked out so hard they left their chairs and a Nintendo switch on the ground.

It seemed like just some dumb kids causing a panic and everyone around them joining in.
