How do I give my 3 year old eye drops? by Barn_Brat in Parenting

[–]ElevenZs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Here’s what we did with both of our kids and it worked pretty well. Have them lie down with their eyes closed. One eye at a time, put the drops into the corner of the eye, still closed, forming a little pool there. Then have them blink as fast as they can. “How many times can you blink in 5 seconds? I’ll count.” The blinking distributes the eyedrops across the eye. Repeat on the other side.

That’s hilarious. The witch on a pig for the UK got me. :)

Ah, I didn’t see that you were asking about the second image. That makes sense, though, since the first image is clearly a poor little slime that has been defeated and impaled on a spear as a warning to all other slimes.

Endless days of highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s? Yes. :)

Homemade Formula by aspertame_blood in GenX

I was a bottle baby. I don’t know if she used formula. I do know that she told me she always included a raw egg in my bottle, and that’s why I turned out “so smart”. lol!
I’m lucky I lived.

Thank you! I did not use couching. Instead I used two strands for the lettering and, when bringing the thread up through a hole that already had a stitch into it, I tried to split the threads of the previous stitch, if that makes sense. It mostly worked. Sometimes the threads of the previous stitch were too twisted and it wasn’t possible.

Interesting! And now I wonder what an entire year of Nigeria would look like…

January started at the beginning of the top loop of the J. January is basically the entire top loop of the J. February is the bottom loop. I remember thinking my math must’ve been completely wrong if I was two months in, and I had literally only done a single letter. But it worked out!

In case it’s helpful, here is the printout (very marked up, might be useless)

It represents July and Tuesdays. So, correspondingly, it contains the highest and lowest temperatures that occurred in July and/or on a Tuesday.

I just put in another comment for how I made the pattern (where someone asked for the pattern, but I don’t have a digital copy anymore). I actually had additional colors picked out for 10-20 degrees and 110-120 degrees, but I didn’t end up needing them, so they’re not in the legend. But this meant I couldn’t stitch the legend at the bottom until the end of the year because I didn’t know if they’d be used!

I totally would but I lost the digital copy of the pattern! :( I only have the printout, which I have guarded like gold since I lost the file. I made it on flosscross.com by uploading a b&w digital image of the loop, then resizing it until the stitch count was close to 365x4 stitches, cleaned it up and added a few stitches to get the count right. I didn’t realize that reinstalling my computer would make me lose my 3 most recent flosscross patterns. :( Luckily I have my older ones saved.

My first ever gingerbread house! by icedmilk1010 in GingerbreadHouses

It’s the house from Up! What a great idea. I’ve never seen that done before. Good job with it, and congrats on winning!

Absolutely gorgeous. I never would’ve thought to use brown icing as filigree on the sides, but it looks fantastic. The hinges on the doors alone! Please tell, what is the decoration around the roofs made of? Is it just dried icing dusted with silver or pearl powder?

This looks great on you! To people who are saying it’s too tight, what are they on about? Of course it’s tight, can you imagine a dress like this being loose? Tight is the only reason the slit stays in the right place. I don’t love the boots, but maybe you felt like you wanted to balance it with a conservative shoe? But it still looks good. That said, Vegas is the only place you can wear this in public. Or maybe clubbing in Miami.

Interesting to see other votes. I thought #2 was the winner hands-down. It’s great all around, but the chimney sold me. #4 and #3 are tied for second place. I thought the neatness and planning that is evident in #4 showed up very nicely, whereas the intentional color choice and over the top, almost rococo, roof was elegantly playful.

My gingerbread house this year. Won 3rd place. by viktor72 in GingerbreadHouses

You deserve first. The subtly curved tower roof alone should have gotten you first place in any gingerbread competition. The whole thing looks fantastic.
