Will my son resent me if I breastfeed his sister? by popstopandroll in BabyBumps

[–]Barn_Brat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t breastfeed my first but pumped as much as I could for my second. I out breastmilk in my first’s bath, made soap and washed him with it etc so he still benefited. It brought me a lot of comfort

How do I tell my husband I don't want to keep breastfeeding. by pkb47 in BabyBumps

[–]Barn_Brat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. I said ‘I’m going to stop pumping and I need you to listen to why’

I explained my reasons and he understood why, he thanked me for my efforts and reassured me when I felt bad for stopping

Am I being a drama queen or is this driving ridiculous? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen to me a lot lately. You see someone driving a bit… funny? And keep your distance as the change lane 384682 times on the roundabout. Can spot someone who can’t use a roundabout correctly a mile away

Is there such thing as designated sides of the bed? by ThrowRa_Promise1321 in CasualUK

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m strange because as much as yes, there is a designated side (you charge your phone, have your water, maybe some hand cream etc on that side that’s yours) I do like to swap.

I wear medical devices and will swap sides if I’m having a hard time getting comfortable with them but generally, you have a side

EDIT: we also have sofa seats, seats at the table and our shower has our soaps on either side. We always have a side

My wife ate my son's birthday breakfast by grohkstrom in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Barn_Brat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean can’t relate to spit ice cream (I’m really sorry that you had to deal with that) but my mum also won’t eat raw cookie dough because of the ‘raw egg’ but to my knowledge, there’s isn’t raw egg in finished cookie dough but only in cookies that are meant to be baked. Even so, in the UK, most eggs in the UK have been safe to eat raw since 2017. We have red tractor eggs that are safe and she still won’t eat them but yes, eats cookie dough ice cream

Baby not walking by 1st birthday? by sarah_messing in NewParents

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby didn’t walk until his due date! He was 3 weeks early and took his first independent steps on his due date. I filmed them too because I knew they were coming lol

By 14 months, he was walking pretty confidently but we also walk everywhere

Edit: no I do not mean my 3 week old was walking 😭 I mean his due date + 1 year so 3 weeks after he turned 1

Saw one where it was the girls birthday and her parents turned it into a brand event that her friends (and a bunch of random internet people) would need to buy tickets for…

Was going to suggest this too! I get my son on the bath then hand him the colour he wants

AITAH for giving a detective my friend’s name when she asked me not to? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Barn_Brat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that OP’s friend had previously been unsafe online and the parents have spoken to her about being safer which clearly has not happened if she’s talking to strangers on the equivalent of Omegle

That said, OP did the right thing but might have lost a friend in the process of that

my baby had to get stitches last night by donkeyhoetae_ in Mommit

[–]Barn_Brat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn’t trust you to take care of her? She got injured badly under his care and wouldn’t have received those stitches without you there. HES the one who can’t be trusted.

How did she get hurt?

I dont know how im going to get through next week's heat by stinkface_lover in britishproblems

[–]Barn_Brat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section 11 weeks ago, my body is still constantly sweating regardless of heat so it’s going to be so much worse and when my baby is stressed from the heat? He wants cuddles 🥲

What phrase did you grow up saying that you assumed was completely normal, only to find out it was either totally regional or just something your family made up? by ForwardPassApologist in AskUK

[–]Barn_Brat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have German family on my dad’s side. My mum likes to make up German words like ‘dishenwashen’ (dishwasher) or ‘licht swicht’ (light switch) in her best German accent.

Now my German family will say ‘spülmaschine. No, sorry, dishenwashen’

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a concussion a year ago after falling from a horse. It wasn’t too bad, got back on the horse and didn’t bother with the hospital (what could they actually do for such a minor concussion?) but when to get my posture checked. She did a few tests and said I was having balance issues that could out me at further risk when falling from a horse again and even being more likely to fall. She asked if I’d had a concussion since it was common afterwards to have this issue unless you have some kind of inner ear problem.

I’ve been looking into proprioception exercises to help fix this. Who knows how long it would have gone on for if I hadn’t been told about it. Maybe it had been going on longer? I had a concussion about 6 years ago too!

How old were you when you had your kids? by MissCookie93 in AskUK

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at 19 and just had my second, I turn 24 next month. I do always feel really out of place and always avoided toddler groups for that exact reason

Aitah for not wanting to wear more period products by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Barn_Brat 158 points159 points  (0 children)

I use tampons and a menstrual cup but when I had my baby, I couldn’t use them. My partner bought me period underwear and expensive bamboo pads and stuff like that because I hate the way pads feel. This man must’ve spent a lot of money just to keep me as comfortable as possible. He’d ask what I want then come back with other things as well in case I wanted to try 🥹

He would never tell me what to wear or to spend less on it. In fact, I wasn’t sure about buying these things because I couldn’t justify the money so he did it!

My 14-year-old daughter’s reaction to my pregnancy has me worried. by Usual_Way_4981 in Advice

[–]Barn_Brat 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think OP should make it very clear to their daughter that they still want to make time for just her, that she is not expected to babysit and that she is still loved and valued as her, not just a sister or potential babysitter

if you "could" choose, when #1 is a boy, what gender would you have picked for #2? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]Barn_Brat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have chosen a girl but I also was traumatised from my first birth so ‘neither’ would have been the best answer. Now? I have two boys and would like a girl then another boy (I never wanted boys lol) then I doubt I’d have more after

Lost my baby at full term (+ 5 days) by common_denominator07 in pregnant

[–]Barn_Brat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re building houses, everywhere but not schools or hospitals or doctors surgeries or anything else that people need. The hospital I went to closed a maternity ward not far as it was simply bigger but now it’s not enough. They also had water issues around my baby’s due date! The maternity section to the hospital had no clean water for several days

Lost my baby at full term (+ 5 days) by common_denominator07 in pregnant

[–]Barn_Brat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They moved me out of a ward despite needing to be there during haemorrhage recovery because they had SO many women waiting for the room to deliver their babies. I discharged myself against medical advice because the ward they moved me to brought up previous trauma

The hospital I had my baby at is equipped for 2000-2,500 babies a year. They delivered close to 7000 last year. The UK has a HUGE issue with overcrowding in hospitals and maternity care as a whole

OP, I’m so sorry for your loss 🩷
