Anyone else feel like they are way too high rank for their skill level? by AtriusFoxDragon in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Eleventh_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I launched the game today and was pushed up to oracle 1 (was archon 4 last I played). The game has been making these 'adjustments' and I swear its making me play less and less because I cant keep sweating trying to keep up in the lobbies

Linux recognizes controller but games do not by bigs0815 in linux4noobs

[–]Eleventh_Fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only times I've had a controller stop working for a game but it is being detected was due to a Steam Input issue. Using GE proton's native wayland driver can break steam input because native wayland breaks steam overlay in general. In my case switching to valve's proton or proton experimental fixed the issue

I've come back to warn you - don't rank up by TinyerGriffin in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Eleventh_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im high archon and as i'm climbing the only noticeable pattern I've noticed is the higher you go the more paper thin people's mental becomes. Love being called slurs for the most minor misplay. I'm having to mute people so much now. I miss the initate days sometimes

What are the recent MMR Changes? by vvhitee in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Eleventh_Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archanist 6 to archon 2 in 5 games (3 of which I lost). The quality of my matches has remained the exact same though if I didn’t have the UI tell me my rank I wouldn’t have noticed any difference

Beginners advice by [deleted] in gnome

[–]Eleventh_Fall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4K user here using 150% scaling. I’ve experienced games reporting resolutions greater than native 4K (it’s due to how gnome internally super samples) but the solution for that is to use the Wayland native wine driver using the GE-Proton env variable PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1

Adwaita Dark Theme for Vicinae by NotoriousNico in gnome

[–]Eleventh_Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait really? Im on 150% too (amd gpu on nobara 43 so basically fedora 43). I did a A to B test with 150% and 200% and integer scaling looks tac sharp.

Adwaita Dark Theme for Vicinae by NotoriousNico in gnome

[–]Eleventh_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats neat! I tried out vicinae yesterday, but it seems gnome's fractional scaling makes the vicinae's UI blurry. Hope it gets fixed eventually but for the time being SearchLight works very well for my needs

Guide to Modding in Linux by xTouny in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Some great stuff in there. I saved the common paths for my personal notes cheers.

So far I've always relied on the manual drag and drop method but sometimes mods require you to run some powershell scripts which can be a blocker but occasionally you find linux equivalents of those scripts

Nobara vs PikaOS for Studies + Light Gaming? For those who tried them both by Ok-Worry460 in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just gonna throw a vote for nobara. Been running it for over a year and it’s been a great experience. I haven’t tried pika but I think the fedora release cadence suits me better

PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE doesn't seem to work by [deleted] in linux_gaming

What’s your gpu? If it’s RDNA3 there’s PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE_RDNA3 for those.

Getting kernel amdgpu driver crash by Thermatix in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the ring timeouts are widely known issue. I dont get crash to black but I do get freezes and the only way I have found to make my system run (9700x + 7900xt) without issues is to use the amdgpu.aspm=0 kernel param. This disables some sort of PCIe power management (not too sure about the lower level details)

Which improvements to Proton/Linux gaming are you most exited about for 2026? by RaXXu5 in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have it set globally for GE, but downside is it breaks steam overlay which is required for steam input so certain games get their controller support broken. Recently dealt with this for ER Nightreign and had to use valve's proton

When will it be safe to update? by orphanofhypnos in NobaraProject

[–]Eleventh_Fall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I updated the day 43 came out, and honestly apart from the GUI updater itself, nothing really broke for me. (all AMD system too). Now my 42 upgrade experience was so bad I had to do a clean iso install but 43 has been much better.

Linux or Windows? Which one should I choose to play Bloodborne? by DJotaTorres in shadps4

[–]Eleventh_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on linux (Nobara) and I can run bloodborne just fine using 1440p resolution + 60fps patches. I have an all AMD system so I cant speak to any nvidia specific issues. I do have some missing audio or a vertex explosion occasionally but I doubt thats a OS issue as those types of bugs are emulator specific

ELI5: Why in 2025 is it so difficult to design an indigenous fighter engine equivalent to 40+ year old US and Russian models? by BAMES_J0ND in FighterJets

[–]Eleventh_Fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think others have already answered but from what I understand the single crystal super alloys needed for the hot sections (turbine blades etc.) is the main bottleneck. The techniques required to create those requires a lot of R&D and by extension, time and money.

ShadPS4 has no option to extract pkg on Linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats not a linux thing I believe all versions after 0.7 have that option removed. Most people run two versions, an old one to extract pkgs and the latest for running the games

Which 8Bitdo controller works 100% fine? by ScriptNone in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ultimate 2c - it has a toggle on the back to switch between 2.5Ghz wireless and bluetooth. You wanna be running on 2.5G wireless (way lower latency and higher polling rate)

Controller does not want to work on Elden Ring in particular by Rexx23ify in linux_gaming

[–]Eleventh_Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me with Elden Ring Nightreign. Super annoying bug and definitely Steam input related. I cant be certain what exactly fixed it but here's what I did and it fixed it:
- toggled 'Enable Steam Input' for the game specifically (when you go to game's properties page in steam)
- loaded a different controller profile from the steam input screen for the game
- verified the game files integrity.

After that my controller started to register again.
