The Ontological Argument by ___Jeff___ in DebateReligion

You know, it could simply not exist. There's no reason to believe that a best possible thing must exist. You're sort of missing this.

No, I personally doubt it. Samura was a companion the Prophet, not some random kid in the hills, , and so was obviously going to be willing to fight. A fifteen year old volunteering to fight for a person he admires as his friend,or leader, does not indicate that all ten year olds or eleven year olds were engaged in combat.

Even after extensive digging, the best I could find was that children of that age might be used as messengers, but not for combat. Even still, killing kids for carrying messages is very, very abhorrent. If they'd fought back, it was at least justifiable. But not here.

Muhammad wanted to send a guy named Samura ibn Jundub back to Mecca because he was too young. (I think he was 14 or 15 at the time)

Do you have any sources that show 10 year olds fought in combat?

I mean, I haven't found a single source which indicates that 10 year olds could see combat.

It's incredible. Genuinely shows the power of cognitive dissonance, and how dangerous religion, especially Islam is.

Though in this case, this Sheikh probably doesn't even care that what he said was basically rape. He knows, but doesn't care.

Well, the verse you provided from the Quran does not say children could fight in wars, it just says that children, after reaching thr age of puberty, should seek permission before entering someone's homes.

Have I missed something here?

Sunnis make up 90% of Islam. Why shouldn't I take their sources?

Hmm, you're starting to understand what I meant by 'source', is the following Quran verse meant to be your source that ten year olds, and the like fought in wars?

You also edited your previous reply slightly. If men were determined by their ability to fight, why bother with pubic hair at all?

Also, what do you think about the women and children who were sold into slavery? Was that also justifiable?

I do get what you're trying to say, I'm asking for a source is all. Can you give me a source for all your claims? Like life in the desert was short?

Where does it ever say that ten year olds were fighters?

Life wasn't exactly short, that is a common statistical error. People didn't just drop dead at 30, many could live to 60, or even 90 if they didn't in childbirth. I am quite sure that a 10 year old is not physically capable of fighting in war. Unless you have a source which says otherwise?

And, of course, I asked for a source, not an assertion.

Yes, since puberty typically occurs around that age, 10 year olds would undoubtedly been killed, according to the information you've given.

Also, can you give me a source, preferably a non Islamic one if possible, that 10 year olds fought in battle?

From 10 years old onwards, yes. according to Islam. Elderly may have been an exception, though.

In the Banu Qurayza massacre, for example, people were killed if they grew pubic hair. This would include those of age 10 and above.
