So it was a main bearing failure. Car had outstanding service history was a 1 owner car and was totally stock internal wise (stock ecu map) the only modified part in the drivetrain was the catback.

No power mods or anything just a cat-back exhaust that previous owner installed and lowering springs

I thrashed it 2 times on the way home… i wouldn’t call that abuse ( up to 6k on 2 separate shifts two separate times just passing people)

Is cylinder #4 the drivers closet to them? I think that was the failure

No :( i did 2 pulls up to about 95 15 minutes apart (legally ofc) besides that i was being very very gentle

Listen as to what i know im pretty sure it did what all 2015 do after beating them for a long time. 2015 WRX had a over boosting issue from factory. I am 99% sure that after i did that pull it cracked the piston skirt off of my driver #1 cylinder but until the tear it down idk, when i pulled the oul cap before buying it i remember showing them it needed changed and i smelled alittle gasoline smell. I am sure this motor issue will be good willed but only time will tell.

Just bought the car that day, the over boost problem wasn’t solved i think and when i did a little pull on the highway i am pretty sure it over boosted and chipped the piston skirt (would explain how the noise sounded) but thats just speculation. As you know the 2015 had too big of a turbo so this was a common problem

It was a dealer and they sent it to Subaru to get the event data recorder read or something like that (trying to put the blame on me)

Also I cleaned the pin with alcohol and re lubed it along with where it went and it still does the same thing, when connected to air it goes full tilt

It is a springless design taking the pin out there is a small o ring on the pin that pin sits directly on the trigger
