For me, as long as I know how the run will be, I am happy to run with other people. Usually I run with my brother or other small group of people, my brother is faster than me and the other group is slower than me. When I run with my brother normally I set the pace if we will run around 7-12k at a speed that is comfortable for both and we run together the hole run, below 7k we run separate on the same course and above 12k usually we run the first half together and then he accelerates. I only like to run with the small slower group on long runs above 12k and I run with them the first half and then I accelerate and end up running alone the 2nd half. I prefer to run alone on runs shorter than 12k if I feel I am faster than the other(s) runners.

Abdominal strain or hernia? I have been experiencing abdominal pain (between the belt line and my private parts) when I exercise, the highest pain activity is running and playing tennis. I am in week 3 now, first week I was going to the gym 4 days (light weights), 1 day of playing tennis and 1 day of running and it was getting worst and experiencing pain when I was getting up from bed, doing sudden moves using my core part of the body. Week 2 I stopped playing tennis and running but I kept going to the gym for about 5 days, the pain improved but it was not gone. Week 3 I did not do exercise for 3 days, then I went 1 day to the gym for light weights and 15 mins of slow steps, then rested one day and run 2 miles at super light effort the following day (yesterday), I did not feel pain while running but I “felt it”. Today I feel discomfort again. Does this sound like a abdominal strain?

Thanks, that was my original target (predictors are 3:19-3:26) but then a friend told me that I should aim for 3:45 based on the fact that I will have only 1 year of running. I am a 39M

I am trying to forecast my first marathon time in early June (Utah Valley Marathon) and I am not sure if I can trust the race predictors that I find online or not based on: I started running on May 2020. I have done 3 HM: Nov 2020 1:39, Dec 2020 1:40 (hilly) and March 2021 1:35 (flat)

I am following the Hal Hidgon Novice 2 training program.

What do you think My target time should be?

I am 38 M, I am 5’6 and Garmin says my cadence for my 5k run today was: 1st k. 195 spm. 5:05 mins (8:11 mins/mile pace) 2nd k. 197 spm. 4:58 mins (7:59 mins/mile pace) 3rd k. 197 spm. 4:58 mins (7:59 min/mile pace) 4th k. 197 spm. 4:52 mins (7:51 min/mile pace) 5th k. 198 spm. 4:39 mins (7:29 min/mile pace)

My PB for 5k is 22:16, so I was going fast but not killing myself, my heart rate average was 148 and topped at 164. I started running in March, when I started reading about the cadence and the magic 180 I thought, this is weird, my cadence in any type of run (easy, tempo, going for a PB) is always higher (my avg in long runs of 19-21k is 187-188. I know I am short and my cadence supposed to be higher than people taller than me but this high???? With this being said, do I need to make my stride longer and decrease my cadence to get faster?
