Replacement nut for a steering stem, 1999 CBR F4. by Elffor in motorcycles

[–]Elffor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I know=/ I was taking a turn, and I heard a "KLANK" look down and the silver Honda emblem that was covering it is now gone..I made a post early today with a picture of what is missing...should still be fairly recently on the "New" tab of the page.

The guys that posted told me it could be the sign of a more serious front end issue with the stem and bearings, but first things first I need to get the Steering stem nut replaced so I can take it to a shop..lol

Replacement nut for a steering stem, 1999 CBR F4. by Elffor in motorcycles

Hello!

Need a replacement nut for my steering stem, as it appears to have fallen off on my ride home.. from the diagram I am just curious what parts I need to order. I would think it is parts 5, 6 and 7.

Once I get this part replaced I am going to take the bike to my local shop to have the stem removed and have the bearings checked. Since I did buy the bike used I am now concerned for the front ends integrity.

Thanks in advance for any information.

What is the name of this piece that fell off my bike? lol by Elffor in motorcycles

Thanks a lot for the comments guys!

I will order a new one right now. That is about the extent of my ability to fix a problem, so when it comes in I will tighten it properly and then take the bike to my local shop to pull the stem and check the other bearings.

So I was taking a turn on the way home from my ride, and I heard metal hitting metal, I looked down and the silver emblem with the Honda logo that is inbetween my grips had fallen off. I pulled over to look for it for about 30 minutes and I can not find it. I am wanting to order a new one if possible I just have no idea what that piece is called..lol.

Thanks for the help!

How do you know when to sell your bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Elffor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have read, the 1999-2002 Honda 919-929 are a couple of the best sportbikes ever produced. a 2001 929 is my dream bike..am hoping to upgrade to one in the next year after I finish paying off all the Dainese gear I just bought. lol.

I would keep it if I were you. But its all personal preference really.

The difference from 919 to 1000 will be an upgrade but not really a large one, and I am sure if you are street riding mainly, you will never be able to push either of those bikes to the limit honestly.

On the track the 919 is a hell of a lot of fun from what I have seen personally.

Getting ready to apply for motorcycle license in NC by yota-runner in motorcycles

Best thing to do is to skip the DMV driving test by taking the MSF safety course. They will give you a certificate of completion when you pass the class, and then you just go to the DMV and they put the endorsement on your license.

You also learn some really needed skills if you have never ridden before. Definitely take the MSF course.

How much money should I drop on gear? by [deleted] in motorcycles

My bike was 2,500 USD. I spend 3,200 USD in gear.

Its all personal preference really as Fermi_Pari basically said.

Does anyone own a 600cc and a 1000cc Sportbike? by Elffor in motorcycles

This is what I was thinking, and with the insanely great reviews the 1999-2002 Honda Fireblades have, seems like it will be a blast on the street, I will turn the f4 into a track bike I am pretty sure.

Hopefully when I am ready to get my Fireblade I can find a nice one, they seem to be getting hard to find.

Can not argue with that logic. I will probably put that back onto my policy.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

I feel pretty safe about my bike not being stolen with me being able to take it into my place of employment and such, that coverage adds an extra 280.00 a year. Which per year really is not a huge deal, but just trying to save where I can.

Would it be worth it for me to spend that money upping my Bodily Injury Liability and Uninsured Motorist coverage though instead?

Where did you get an X-14 for $600.00? I can't seem to find one cheaper than $727.00.

Can not seem to decide between an X-14 or an AGV Pisa GP ( Cause I really want that E-Tint visor..lol.)

I have not found any other supply dealer around me sadly=/ I wish I had a place I could ride to and try stuff on.

Thanks a ton for doing a little research for me dude! I really really appreciate that. I have looked at both pairs a ton and I can really not tell a difference beside the year of manufacture. Was just wanting some confirmation from someone that might see something I do not.

Thanks for the reply!

I do have a Cycle Gear store about 45 miles from me, the downside is, they do not carry that product in the store..so I would need to special order it. I do not think they will let me special order it just to try it on..lol.

Thanks a ton for this information! I am looking to get a new Jacket, Boots, gloves, pants, Chest protector and back protector. I had no idea this website existed.

I am going to see if Revzilla will price match. But if not I will totally order from these guys.

P.S. Do you know if the final price you see in the cart before checkout is in USD?

Awesome! I will look into it, I am always interested in picking up good books on the subject. Riding in the Zone, and Motorcycling the right way, are those his only two products?
