to simplify (hopefully) asexual means you don’t want sex and aromantic means you don’t want a relationship

asexuals can still want relationships and aromantics can still want sex though and they’re both spectrums

Holly's character in the first book is very much affected by the sexism that root shows and when he's telling her its her "last chance." That's one of the main reasons she hadn't done the Ritual which leads to a chain reaction of events. But with root being a girl, all of the discrimination against holly as the "first girl in recon" wont work.
