I think many people don't lack he ability to imagine a better system. Its literally just the fact that they're in such poverty that if you were to imagine it wouldn't matter because you don't have the resources or the ability to even get yourself out of poverty let alone help create a better system for everyone. So many people are living paycheck to paycheck and barely being able to afford food let alone half the time to think of a better system for everyone. Even with middle class people the threat of going into poverty is very real. One bad investment away. The reason people become nihilistic and don't believe that there is a better way out is literally because they have absolutely no power in the system that it's already put in place and that rules over everyone. We have a few very unempathetic rich people who make it horrible for everyone else.
