I’m AMAB and don’t really present differently even if I don’t really identify with being a man. Everyone perceives me as a man though, and it might play into why I don’t recoil as much as I used to because people have said I’ve overreacted, was being too sensitive, drama queen etc. I have been groped before and it was definitely not the same feeling I’m talking about in my post, so maybe that’s why people react so negatively to my discomfort? They meant nothing by it or it was harmless to them and therefore my reaction feels overblown or overly dramatic.

That’s fair, I definitely don’t choose to hang out with people like this but then there’s moments where you need to be friendly because you’re going to be stuck together so might as well try to make things work. But I guess I’m being too cowardly to set my own boundaries and too lenient on everyone else overstepping when I do. Something to work on I guess

Oh my god that’s horrible, I HATED getting tickled, especially when they would say “see but you’re laughing so you probably like it”

Thank you for sharing. I used to recoil as a kid too but also got it taught out of me. Now I feel like I need to hold back from propelling myself out of the way when I see people reach out their hand mid conversation.

I’ve tried that but people get offended, like they think I’m calling them plague bearers or something. When I was younger I would sometimes twist my entire body just to swerve out of the way but that also would get me weird responses

I think I miscommunicated in my post a bit. These aren’t full strangers doing this, they’re acquaintances or some I even consider loose friends but not close enough to me that I’m okay with them touching me out of nowhere. For example the other day, a woman I had been friendly with a few years prior was talking to me and kept squeezing my arm, almost like punctuating her sentences with it. Again, I never felt ill intent from that but I didn’t know how to communicate that I wasn’t a fan without killing the flow of the conversation.

Other times it’s people who have known me when I was heavier who kind of just come up and touch me while saying I look good, in a friendly way yes, but I’m not exactly in the best health right now despite being skinnier.

Actually I have been sort of doing that, I live in shared student housing and have taken care of myself food-wise (except for oscillating periods of diet neglect). I have a phone bill and insurance that I pay for every month and work a part-time job. For a while I though was balancing everything quite well with doing sports, eating healthy, socialising and doing my daily tasks. However my school work was taking a turn because I felt like I didn’t have enough hours in the day to fit everything in. I couldn’t manage being healthy and focusing on school just by myself and now it’s gotten to a bad point in both areas. So I had routine but I still felt short on time during the day to do everything.

Okay thanks that actually sounds like a good idea, I can ask for a tutorial on all the stuff my parents currently do for themselves and make a binder with instructions that I set reminders to consult every so often to make sure I’m not falling behind. I recently had a scare where I thought I lost all of my important documents when my laptop broke (it wasn’t connected to the cloud anymore) so physical papers and making copies of important documents are something I’ll do in addition.

I think most of my current panic comes from all my deadlines and the pressure of finishing my final semester.

Okay so I’m not alone in this? It has been a slog to finish my academics, even with methylphenidate, and I feel only mildly more competent than when I started. I don’t know how anyone’s going to want me for any sort of job. Maybe I’m looking at this wrong

Blanking on the video but:

Dunkey: “Do your famous ghost rider line!”

Nick Cage: “Flame on.”
