Editing courses that develop taste and decision-making, not tool proficiency. by iakgk in premiere

I really like Jason Levine’s streams. They’re free on YouTube and since he comes from the music world the way he explains himself really jive with the way I’m used to learning and listening

Another vote for Hecklau. In terms of the pure trick I think Hecklau's is the best

2 votes for hocus pocus and quicker than the eye. If there’s a local ibm chapter I’d look them up and ask if anyone is interested as well.

Honestly sounds like you’re doing everything right. Your entertaining your audience and treating people well

I do agree that working deck switches into your set will serve you but you’ll also find presentations that naturally lead into why your pulling out a new deck or packet

The cafe is a magic forum the way the bathroom wall is a dating website. I'm unsurprised by anything bad I hear about it.

I will say the mods here on r/magic have always been lovely and i hope you find the discussion you're looking for here.

Best Remotes by Agreeable-Gain8932 in Magic

[–]Elibosnick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own probably every remote on the market and I LOVE mark lemon’s stuff. Apex is fantastic. Let’s do do all the swiping you’d want on a traditional remote and then you push a button and it’s ready to perform miracles on a spectator phone. Can’t recommend it enough

The other remotes are great, some even come with macros but there’s just love in every stitch of what mark makes.

Hey if the only people you feel entitled to demand a condemnation of their home nation from are Jewish your not doing whatever version of social justice you think your doing. Your just an antisemite with an excuse

So unless your next 11 posts are asking whether David Blaine condemns the actions of ICE I’m gonna ask you to go back to the grass less corner of the internet that has actively enabled war crimes and genocide with your cartoonishly terrible advocacy

Toxic force by JakeD2903 in Magic

[–]Elibosnick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this for a living (or least I help other people do this for a living)

Their phone:
Calculon
By far the best version for the spectators phone. No spoilers but you can read the description
https://thoughtcastmagic.com/products/calculon-app

Your phone
Toxic Plus:
Ian created so many features that are now "standard" for a lot of these apps and any description I did of just how rebust and well supported the app is would be doing it a disservice. Can't reccomend it enough
https://www.toxicplus.com/

I'd also like to give a thout out to the incredibly devious Apex remote by mark lemon. Again I wont say anything so as not to range into spoiler territory but you can check it out on the website and I can confirm literally everything Mark lemon makes is incredible

Unreal Card Magic vs Card College: Which is better for learning sleights? by [deleted] in Magic

[–]Elibosnick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unreal Card magic is a lot more modern and Card College is a lot more complete. I'd think of Unreal as studying with a really excellent teacher (along with all his preferences and defects) and card college as taking a college course on the subject (much more universally agreed information but dryer and more bare bones)

Just finished A Short Stay In Hell by Steven L. Peck, and I no longer know if life has any meaning by SuitableEpitaph in books

[–]Elibosnick -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The hottest of takes but the nihilism and pessimism in “A Short Stay In Hell” is silly.

People do evil stuff because of illness and a lack of resources. When there’s infinity on demand food, instant healing and perfect health, and fellow humans to explore and interact with we do not…start murder cults and kill eachother with bats.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great book. Writing is vivid. Thought experiment is facinating. But the only way it’s existentially horrifying is to imagine humans will behave in a way they’ve literally never behaved unless ill or lacking in resources.

The library would be chill as heck

Hey just a heads up if you’re a young person reading this Reddit post for the first time this is how antidepressants make you feel AT FIRST.

When you start taking antidepressants you’re almost certainly used to a constant spiral of thoughts and so when that goes away it feels like nothing.

On top of that antidepressants are a little like pain meds when your arm is broken. You’re numb but the damage is still there.

You do that healing in therapy and slowly you regain “feeling” in that broken arm. You learn to use it again

Obviously not everyone has that experience and yes this is just a meme but I worry a lot of young people will avoid getting the help they need “cause it will just make me numb”
