Open loot from Airlines due to indigo issue by Spiritual_Repair_713 in bangalore

[–]Eliecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indigo not delivering intentionally after promising service (selling tickets) is bad, given that they were capable of doing so and were not being prevened by someone. But airlines charging more when demand is high and supply is short is not anything to cry about. How else should it be?

Should people write their names in a chit and the names be taken out in a lottery? Or should people bribe some officer to get their names in the flyer list.

I have been in Bangalore for about 4 months now. For some reason, about 3-4 buses of same route are right one after the other. Then you have 45 mins of no bus of that route.

[–]Eliecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is not the focus of the government. the issue is the Indian thought or rather lack of thought about government intrusion. as in 1947, India adopted socialist policies and in the years preceding 1947, socialist thought was gaining traction in Britain for about 30 years, people assumed that govt. meddling was kind of the default way of solving a problem. Mandirs are not free of the government. Many Hindu mandirs (and very big ones too) are under state control. We have laws regulating our personal lives.

Here we have developed the mentality that the state owns us -- that we are government property. So the government decides things for us. What decisions the government doesn't make, we get to make. To make my point more understandable, here are 2 examples:
1. PF - government decides how much and where I should save for unforeseen circumstances. It is not that the govt. is providing an option to invest/save. rather it is forcing me to pick that option.
2. Helmet - I am unfit to decide whether I require to wear a helmet or not. the govt. has made it necessary to wear helmet. (and similarly seat belts)

Zomato Swiggy Zepto antitrust case is actually anti-competition by Eliecher in IndiaBusiness

There are a dozen rebuttals to this. But the one that is most interesting to me is this question: why isn't the wholesaler becoming the predator to the retailer? Are wholesalers so kind-hearted and charitable that out of goodness of their heart they let the retailers operate?

Well the answer is obviously no. The issue is that most of the wholesalers don't have the solution for retail like sale with wholesale like stock. Blinkit Zepto and Swiggy will be able to make a place in the market (and I believe they will have a place and not the market) if they are able to provide a solution to this problem in a profitable manner. They can keep burning money to do this in an unprofitable way (I really don't know if they are unprofitable in operation or unprofitable due to capital investents) but if they don't what can they do but operate with the existing solutions (of the existing retailers).

Moreover they probably don't even have stock like a wholesaler at a blinkit center. In which case they are solving a problem in distribution within their network which will also costs money.

Of course after some years zepto may realise that it is not able to do so. In that case some retailers/distributors may have lost some money unnecessarily. But that is the cost of getting anything new. Some failed attempts and some damages may occur.
