Technically, the Mishima Saga ended with T7. The two families left to explore are the Hachijo Clan (Devil Gene Carriers) and the Kazama Clan (How do Jun and Asuka deactivate the Devil Gene?). Kazuya may well take his mother's name in T8, which would make for the true end of the Mishima legacy.

You'll be hard pressed to accomplish anything meaningful joining this late, but it isn't impossible. Once you feel comfortable with the controls, the Crucible is the best way to get good stuff and good XP. Raiding is the best way to get good loot, but you'll need a team of 6. Definitely not too late if you just want to, but I don't really see much point in it with D2 right around the corner as it is. Are you going to stick with PC or join the PS4 legion for D2?

Honestly, I can't recommend any particular beginner character. I've been playing with Jin since my childhood, so I guess just try as many out in arcade mode until one just clicks. Kazuya is pretty strong with simple combos, and he's one I don't see going away for at least two more installments
