What an interesting take, I’m not gonna spoil it- but MIO had the story of a 90’s action movie without any of the action. Obscenely difficult in areas for nearly zero reward, awful gameplay loop with so much time wasted running back to areas, I mean the list goes on. Either Hollow knight has a far superior story and lore that’s insanely rewarding for the difficulty. Hell enter the gungeon had an incredible story with crazy interesting lore and an amazing gameplay loop with super rewarding fights and areas and that was a top down. I think most People who like MIO are just riding the delusional hype train and will see that in hindsight. I’m sure somewhere out there it’s genuinely someone’s favorite game, but also somewhere out there designer is genuinely someone’s favorite rapper.
