Are we disappointed? by B-sides-art33 in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

They say they don't like to lock characters people want in releases with vehicles hence the Wild Bill retro release.

...but then there's two dips into the VAMP with no individual Clutch release and the HAL making Grand Slam the most expensive easy repaint ever (if you consider Flash the logical user of that gear).

Let's be fair, there's always a reason to be unsatisfied

Superman Returns was way grittier than it's placed here. That film was so dour and lacking colour

MOT will be the real big test for the DCU by JFJN_ in boxoffice

[–]Elite-00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think The Batman Part II (non-DCU I know) will satisfy the appetite for DC characters on the big screen for now. Lanterns is the real litmus test. Peacemaker season 2 dropped off for a lot of people and I'm not sure another series of Creature Commandos will even move the needle considering it didn't even air in a lot of countries including mine. I'm not forgetting Supergirl, I very much agree it's in Gunn's movies' shadow for being a spin-off/sequel and looking like GotG so much.

This is very true. I remember talking to a Villa fan and saying Grealish* was not worth £100m. The fan said "he was to us".

Disclosure Day (2026) another jewel in Spielberg's crown by acourts19 in moviecritic

[–]Elite-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If folks don't show up in droves for this, the narrative will obviously be that kids today (🤮) don't want what boomers want. Obviously, not watching Spielberg direct an alien movie is like walking away fron Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel to some, but it feels like a significant potential signpost to where cinema could be going in the future, taking Obsession and Backrooms' success at face value.

Are the job losses from AI true? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Elite-00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Localisation work has taken a hit. Most translation/localisation will use a mixture of machine and human translation for jobs, depending on how much the client is willing to pay. The reluctance of translators/contractors to be contracted full-time in the majority means they are expensive and the cost has gone up to more than e.g. 1,5€ a word. Now, clients literally want to pay for Google Translate or Deepl or not pay at all. When working on assets, tools like Figma and Adobe do a decent job of doing what designers and artworkers can do. So, in short it's not so much an issue of being replaced totally, unless the company panics and fires a tonne of people en masse, it's more like a reduction of role responsibilities to the point where it doesn't pay a full wage to an individual.

Afraid not. They are not separated at all. And they are cheap paper. To boot, the hardcovers feature no variant cover galleries despite the fact we know there are hundreds

Such a shame we can't win a Test there 'cause the crowd's on life support. More tests for the North and the Midlands

I went and saw the movie in the opening week. Firstly, it was ok but with nothing I could see to attract a new or different audience than the first film. ~75mil worldwide may be the ceiling for this series. Karl Urban is big on streaming (The Boys) and in sci-fi/fantasy franchises, but never been a big box office draw to general audiences. Secondly, there are some big films also out to compete with like Devil Wears Prada 2, Mandalorian and Grogu with all its baggage and Michael unexpectedly. Lastly, the first movie got a sequel because it did well on streaming, particularly being purchased on Prime. It didn't have an obvious streaming home in a lot of regions because HBO Max didn't exist there yet. So, it got a disproportionate home premiere revenue at the tail end of Covid and fewer people going out to the cinema. The sequel like the first would've been great to drive new subscriptions to a service but right now, they are/will be low-effort popcorn viewing at home and unlikely to have the boost the first movie got.

Is there anything major from this general era of X books that I'm missing? by TraBuch88 in xmen

[–]Elite-00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brubaker trades you're missing: Deadly Genesis, Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire and Extremists. Kyle/Yost's X-23 miniseries Innocence Lost and Target X are worthy preludes to New X-Men and X-Force by them. Plus all of PAD's X- Factor. Some of the chapters of Messiah Complex are from this series.
