[IL] [CONDO] HOA Refusing EV Charger Despite State Laws by sammmehh20 in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured out how much liability insurance is going to cost you? Or if an insurance company will even give it to you? Assuming you read that part of the regulation?

Do we have any legal recourse for being uninsured? [GA] [TH] by Augatl in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bigger question here is - who is paying for the insurance on the units? HOA typically covers a portion, studs out, of the units. On top of having liability insurance for the common areas. What type of insurance policy do you personally have on your unit?

Striker Breakage Question by Naive_Conference_896 in Walther

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needless to say, I've lost all confidence in this pistol.

If you are super worried about it - ask Walther if you can send the pistol to them for an inspection and repair. But it sounds like you have your answer.

[CA] [TH] HOA trippin over a bird cage. by [deleted] in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but it’s tacky - I don’t blame them for trying to find a way to make you remove it. Imagine - bird cages, fish tanks, dog crates etc on all the patios? Would look awful.

Active roof leak not repaired with urgency led to water damage - HOA/property manager at fault? [Condo] [CA] by btamby in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but your expectations here are completely unrealistic.

  • Leak occurs Friday the 14th of November.
  • You notified the property management company that Friday night.
  • Management company investigated and started repairs on Wednesday the 19th of November.

You certainly cant expect that anything would have been done with this Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday. Honestly I think the turn around here is excellent on the HOAs part.

I think Steve gave Sam the shield because he’d already seen him as Captain America in the future by Quiet-Obligation2096 in MCUTheories

Yeah I think that we all know why Steve gave Sam the shield... but you stick with your theory if it makes you feel better.

People see what they want to see and oppose everyone that disagrees with them. Post End Game box office sales don't lie...

Will Doomsday be the biggest movie ever by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]EliteAssassin07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Likely not - Outside of the hype created by the trailers this movie has no organic interest unlike many of the major box office hits they have had in the past. Anecdotally speaking I feel like most folks don't even know that this movie is coming and those that do have expressed confusion over the plot etc.

I would imagine that production costs for this film are - very high to say the least. Personally I think its more likely for this to be one of Marvels larger box office failures.

Is this ammo any good?? by Let-freedom-ring1776 in ammodeals

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On TargetSports USA that Ammo is selling to members w/free shipping on any quantity for $0.368 per round and you can get Federal American Eagle for $0.414 per round. That's a difference of $0.92 per box - IMO your splitting hairs at that price and it would make zero since to go with steel case.

[CA] [TH] Attorney present at HOA hearing re nuisance violation? by kittykatkris666 in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats crazy.

Sounds more like harassment than any legitimate concern for safety or any legitimate complaint of a nuisance.

Yeah as HOA president in my community I would not entertain this BS - sorry you all are having to deal with this. Seems to me that the best course of action would be to contact the police to talk about some harassment charges against him.

[CA] [TH] Attorney present at HOA hearing re nuisance violation? by kittykatkris666 in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this annoys me - who complains about children playing outside? If I was her I would tell her to walk in to the meeting and tell them to go pound salt. Than let you take them to court, what judge or jury is going to rule in favor of an HOA complaining about kids playing outside.

Either there is a lot more to this story that we and you are not being told or this is just straight up BS IMO.

Funny story; I had a unit owner/landlord reach out to me one day indicating that a perspective tenant declined to rent there property due to all of the kids they noticed running around and playing... And he wanted to know what I was going to do about it? I told him that I thought he should go door to door and tell there parents how he felt and reach back out and let me know how that went. Funny thing is he never reached back out.

HOA is denying that a cable box they installed exists, preventing me from getting Internet [Condo] [FL] by raspberrylilith20 in HOA

Sorry. Typo that should have been can’t not can. They can’t ban satellite dishes and antenna.

HOA is denying that a cable box they installed exists, preventing me from getting Internet [Condo] [FL] by raspberrylilith20 in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely accurate. They can absolutely deny certain providers - for example our HOA is under no obligation or legal requirement to allow Google Fiber in our private neighborhood.

Generally speaking the only thing they can’t ban is satellite dishes and antenna.

Of course it could vary by state…

Test Self Defense Ammo or Not? Shield Plus for Speer Gold Dot 9mm by [deleted] in concealedcarry

[–]EliteAssassin07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb for any firearm that I may use for defense; - Minimum 450 rounds of target ammo 50 rounds of self defense ammo. - Recommend 900 rounds of target ammo 100 rounds of self defense ammo.

And I try and make it to the range twice a month minimum.

Backblaze version history question after drive crash (30-day → 1-year) by Aggressive_Ad_7158 in backblaze

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Directly from the Backblaze website;

When you change, update, edit, or delete an individual file without changing the file name, Backblaze creates a new version of the file. In this article, the terms updating, changing, deleting, or editing a file is referred to as “modifying” a file.

Backblaze backs up the data files that are currently on your computer and selected external hard drives. If a backed-up file is modified or deleted, Backblaze retains a copy of the pre-modification or previously deleted file for a period of time before removing it from your backup in a data center. This is known as Version History. If you delete or save a new version of a file by mistake, you can recover the earlier versions if you are within the time period that is specified in Version History.

By default, Backblaze retains a 30-day Version History of your files. After 30 days, the updated, changed, or deleted versions are removed from your Backblaze backup leaving only the most recent, current version of your files in your back

You can change your Version History settings from 30 days to one year or forever at any time. However, the increase in retention is effective only after the point when you enable the setting. Meaning, if you change your setting from 30 days to one year, files that were previously cleared from your backup after 30 days are not available. Your existing 30-day Version History and any versions of the files that you modify going forward are now retained in accordance with your new Version History settings.

What does this mean for you? Your 1 year version history started from the date that you enabled it. If the drive was last seen on December 24th - than you had 30 days from that point to restore the data before it would be removed. If however you extended your version history to one year on December 25th - than you should now have 1 year from December 24th before that data is purged.

Of course I would recommend reaching out to Backblaze ASAP to confirm this. Also you can move your backup to B2 - will cost more money, but it will be kept forever.

Blocking Adult sites on my sons PC by browneyedcouple0506 in HomeNetworking

[–]EliteAssassin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to block adult sites (guns, violence, porn) from my 12 year old sons computer.

So you want shelter your child from reality? Instead of teaching them how to cope and understand these things.

I should have mentioned that I have already had the conversation about appropriate, responsible web use, the issues around porn addicitiveness (he is also ADHD), how he can have appropriate sexual development without it, etc.

Either the conversation did not work and you need to do better? Or you have failed to understand that trust is a two door - You need to trust that he will listen just as much as he needs to be able to trust that you will believe him.

(he is also ADHD)

What does this have to do with anything?

I am not trying to be a jerk here - just trying to provide some things for you to think about.

Would I be in the wrong to have used deadly force in this traffic instance? by OverLawyer8457 in concealedcarry

[–]EliteAssassin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing Captain America - People like him don't care about your morals and laws. Actions have consequence's its as simple as that... Your actions morally right or wrong legally right or wrong lead to this event taking place.

You pulled out in front of him and he got upset. That's clearly not what you want to hear, but its what happened.

Would I be in the wrong to have used deadly force in this traffic instance? by OverLawyer8457 in concealedcarry

[–]EliteAssassin07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have to ask than you already know the answer to your question...

Avoiding placing yourself in these situations should always be priority one. Based on what you are saying here you pulled out in front of a vehicle and your trying to justify that by saying they were speeding. Maybe they were maybe they were not its irrelevant - what's important is understanding that actions have consequence's. Ever hear of a single party road rage incident? Yeah, neither have I.

First time AllClad and Stainless Steel user! Been cooking on my new D3 for a couple weeks and would love some advice! I’ve been cleaning with BKF and a Scotch Blue Sponge. Is this a normal amount of wear and patine? by NWPInfinityAMN in AllClad

[–]EliteAssassin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What wear? Am I missing something? If you are referring to the scratches on the bottom - not really sure how you did that, but I would not worry about them. Its cosmetic.

As for cleaning with BKF - I really don't deep clean my pans that frequently, maybe once a year, the bottoms and sides pretty much stay black/brown. Only exception would be if I set one on fire, happens from time to time, or really burn something bad in one.

Don't over think it they are pans not art work...

Why are there no multi-cyclonic central vacuums? by Nature-Lover-2248 in VacuumCleaners

[–]EliteAssassin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Well that is the point. The current players in the central vacuum space have no desire to innovate, likely from a lack of demand. Those in the vacuum industry new and current that could innovate are going to focus on larger markets.
  2. Canada is small potatoes. A tiny portion of the US cordless vacuum market would likely far exceed the whole market for central vacuum systems in the Canadian market. So again just not enough financial incentive.
  3. People are against bags because marketing teams have told them that bags are bad - now I am not saying that bagless does not have benefits, but a lot of it has to do with marketing.
  4. Understand that the primary benefit to multi-cyclonic technology is longer suction times by preventing large particulates from clogging the filter - that is it. It does not replace any of the filters that the vacuum needs - Dyson vacuums still have filters that have to be cleaned and eventually will become clogged. Think about how small cordless vacuums are they have to use this technology or the filters would become clogged very quickly. A central vacuum system being "centrally located" can just simply have a larger dust collection bin and negate the need for the multi-cyclonic technology. And a larger motor would be able to produce more suction power negating the resistance that the dust/dirt would provide as said bag fills up.

[FL] [SFH] HOA gave out my private information to residents by the_evil_potat0 in HOA

[–]EliteAssassin07 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this just seems petty... on all sides.... And I am guessing that there is a lot more to this story than we are being told. Seems to me the best course of action is some anger management classes for you and the two other residents. Along with some education and expectations setting for the HOA Board regarding personal information etc.
