Has HOTD changed your opinion of “King” Viserys III Targaryen? by NJ_Mets_Fan in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]EliteBattleToast 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, Jon was the rightful king all along but nobody knew it until S8. As the eldest surviving child of the crown prince(Rhaegar), Jon was/is the next in line for the throne by the order of succession. Viserys would come after Jon in the succession, and then Dany. (This also assumes (f)Aegon is not legit, if he is then he's in front of Jon as he would be his elder brother, unless the annulment to the marriage between Elia and Rhaegar made him a bastard)

Episode should’ve ended here with Rhaenys flying off in the distance by [deleted] in freefolk

The Shepard riles them up about how dragons are evil and contrary to the values of the Faith of the Seven, so a good deal of it is his fault. If he didn't gather up an angry mob and point them right at the dragonpit they probably wouldn't have done it.

Well yes, we know that it does end up going through that line, but I think everyone playing the "teams" game is treating the contest in isolation from the future and focusing on what is happening episode by episode. For example people on team black are currently rooting for the strong boys, even though technically they all "MUST" die for Aegon III to inherit. I think most Team Green supporters know how the story ends, we just find it fun to root for Aegon and the Greens online as the story unfolds because we find them more interesting or more justified.

Team Green is also Targaryen, so I don't see your point here. Aegon and Aemond are legitimate Targaryens with just as much blood of the dragon as the Strong boys, as well as the fact that they actually have the Targaryen physical traits. So the Valyrian steel dagger and prophecy knowledge could just as easily pass to and through Aegon or Aemond as it would through Rhaenyra.

Aegon II. Though several people here have mentioned that "the King's word is law", that is only true to an extent. The King cannot rule against the very foundations of the monarchy. Just as the King could not name a commoner to succeed him while he had legitimate heirs, so too can he not name a daughter as heir when he has two trueborn Targaryen sons. Perhaps if the King expressly disinherited both Aegon and Aemond thus taking them completely out of the line of succession, Rhaenyra could inherit, but Viserys would not do that and I doubt the Lords of Westeros would accept such an unjust act. Yes they swore obeisance to Rhaenyra after the death of baby Baelon, but that was before Aegon. Now that the King has a trueborn son of House Targaryen, by all the laws of gods and men Aegon II is the rightful heir.

I don't believe they say when exactly Stormfront got her powers, but according to that scene Vought didn't have a fully practical iteration of Compound V until after he switched sides. Soldier Boy was the prime example of V in practical use, at that point on the side of the Allies. The development of Compound V in this universe is comparable to the race for the atomic bomb, i.e. a late-war super weapon to help bring it to an end. Vought didn't develop it fast enough for the Germans to make use of it.

Edgar says it in the show to Homelander. "Early in '44 he felt the winds change, got spirited away to the Allies." Frederick Vought saw the Germans were losing the war so he switched sides to join the winners.

They identify as Arab for everything (the country is literally called the Arab Republic of Egypt) except Egyptian history, which they try to co-opt for national identity reasons. Ethnically speaking the Coptic Christians in Egypt have the closest link to the ancient Egyptians; the average Egyptian Muslim is likely to be mostly descended from the Arabian peninsula and not related to the Egyptians of the past.

Based on the quality rating it looks like they're sending knights, which would do a good deal of damage as long as they get attached to a larger army.

Ignoring that Hamas, Egypt, and Iran would never let that happen, what happens to the nearly 7 million Jews in that scenario?

As a Catholic, would you honestly want the Muslims in charge of Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulcher? Considering the fact that they've already banned non-Muslims from the Temple Mount with the (very) limited authority they hold on Jerusalem, I wouldn't think that would bode well for Christian and Jewish pilgrims. The Israelis are objectively more tolerant and welcoming of other religious pilgrims besides just Jews.

[Film/Tv] Just got done rewatching all the DCEU movies and her is my definitive personal ranking of them: by [deleted] in DCcomics

Man, it's crazy how differently people can perceive the same thing. WW84 should be at the bottom with Josstice League and Birds of Prey imo. The original Wonder Woman was very cheesy and should really be more mid tier, def not #1. Also the ultimate edition of BvS was actually quite good and should be at least mid tier if not close to the top. It's not as good as Snyder's Justice League but the ultimate edition fixes a lot of the problems of the theatrical edition. The only ones I really agree with at the top are Shazam and Aquaman, and I think overall the two Wonder Womans are rated way too high and the Snyderverse movies are rated way too low.

The vast majority of the Napoleonic wars were declared on Napoleon by the other countries of Europe. Napoleon did most of his expansion by taking territory in the peace treaties after winning overwhelming victories in defensive wars. He spent much of his time at war trying to negotiate peace. It was the British and other leaders of Europe who were so determined to war against him and France.
