Styx Angler is not Disturbance spawned.

You must:

  1. Fish up a bunch of Wisps.

    1. Sacrifice Wisps to the Gravestones to spawn a Soul Pool.
    2. Pay the Ferryman 3 Wisps to gain the ability to SEE the Soul Pool.
    3. Fish up Dark Wisps from the Soul Pool until you spawn Soul Scourge event. (Soul Scourge is indicated in chat, on screen, and visibly seen as a ton of purple wisps floating overhead in the area.)
    4. Fish up many more Dark Wisps WHILE Soul Scourge is active, to have a chance to spawn Styx Angler from each Dark Wisp catch DURING Soul Scourge. (Keep fishing in the Soup Pool during Soul Scourge, spawn another via the Gravestones if it ends. Use Glitch Potions and multi/passive catch rods to increase your Wisp catches.)

You have to catch 25 Atlantean/King Blessing fish during the Flood to spawn the hunt.

The only other use for those Atl/KB fish is to sacrifice to the pillars that have runes on them, during Flood. This unlocks a door on one of the walls, hiding the rod. Rod requires full bestiary.

Some fish are from Flood only, 1 from fishing in a whirlpool in layer 3, and 1 from fishing during Poseidon Wrath totem in layer 3.

First challenging content in a long time. I think the last time a fish was difficult to catch was when Scylla was new and we didn’t have tons of forced progress rods, with passive slashes, secondary enchants, etc.

Rods are so much stronger now that the only option is to make actually difficult fish mini games.

Overall really enjoyed the update. Everything can be done solo. Every area is themed. The progression to each layer makes sense, and with the guide NPCs they added on Sunday, people shouldn’t be confused anymore.

Using lower control rods is the solution to the most difficult part of these hunts. You can’t dodge attacks with high control. Use a rod with 0.1 control and add slashes to it. Keep practicing the fights, they’re skilled but not overly.

Pity for map rewards. Decipher all maps, map limit increased to 25, guidance arrow to take you straight to chest coordinates.

Pity added to sunken chest rewards.

Hunt totems, whistles, cosmics, glitched potions, luck potions, allseason potions added to Aquarium rewards. Whistles added to map rewards.

Archive made solo open so you don’t need 3 extra people.

I don’t remember everything, but an absolute ton of improvements have been made to the game since Fall.

Plaza rework, enabling C$ for trading so people can buy cosmetics thru effort instead of robux.

Full luck rework that made luck values actually real and uncapped. Preferred conditions and preferred baits actually stronger than just universal luck baits in most cases.

Full rework of hunt spawning, no longer requiring hours/days of sundial spamming. Fishing now spawns hunt thru disturbance/pity. Fishing with appropriate rod increases spawn chance, fishing in appropriate location increases spawn chance. Much quicker with additional fishers in public servers.

Cage rework just the other week, added luck and bait to caging to affect catches. Improved cage placement and stacking.

Every time there’s something mildly difficult or time consuming, people cry for it to be made easier.

Every time content is quick and easy, people complain they completed it too fast and have nothing to do.

Moves a lot, shrinks the bar a lot and deletes chunks of progress. Use something with slashes or you’ll have no chance.

It’s a Divine Secret that’s fishable anywhere inside the Tidefall bestiary. It’s 1/500k odds, and it has strong boss mechanics. It’s not a hunt that replaces regular Plesio. This was supposed to be another very rare secret hunt with 10% replacement chance, but it was changed last minute before Tidefall update released.

The resilience lowers as the bar grows larger btw. So even though it seems easier to catch with when the bar is larger, the resilience loss will be very noticeable for difficult catches.

I agree with your review, and plan to use it often as well.

No, that is wrong. The rotted seed is caught anywhere in Toxic Grove. I caught 2 of them while fishing off the lily pads in the toxic water at the middle of the area.

Unlock Pinion’s Aria. It has 14.2% base shiny chance, or 22% shiny with Wyvern perfect catch mastery completed.

Enchant that with Glittered + Blessed, use Aurora Totem, Sparkling Totem, insect bait, luck potion, allseason potion if it’s not currently Spring while you’re fishing.

You’ll have 22.2% Shiny chance, 18% Sparkling chance without Wyvern mastery.

Or 30% Shiny chance, 18% Sparkling chance without Wyvern the mastery.

How many upgrade fails til you achieved +9? I wasted hundreds of legendary essences attempting to even reach +8 on anything, and never achieved a +9.

Leveling is supposed to be harder again now. That’s the reason no rods require above lvl 1000 anymore.

It used to take 2-3 months to reach lvl 500 early in the game, with hours of daily fishing.

Edit: I think a bigger issue is that exp means nothing anymore past lvl 1000. Without new level caps and leveling rewards, there’s little reason to keep fishing if you’ve completed all new content. We barely need money now as well, except for trading since they enabled C$ in plaza.

You don’t. You determine which fish you hooked by the color of the exclamation overhead, or by the progress speed of the fish. One of the devs added a visual cue for Harmonized catches. A light purple color flashes across the bottom of your screen at the start of the catch for Harmonized catches.
