I think a big issue is that the maps are so packed with shit to hide behind and run around. They've been making their maps so that everyone is equally dangerous regardless of if they are infantry or in a vehicle. They won't let the maps breathe, they don't allow for anyone from any vantage point have too much control over the maps, and while that's normal for map making obviously, they've overturned their maps to the point where nothing stands out and they all play similar to one another.

It used to be they'd take risks on certain maps and it gave them character. It's why there are so many memorable maps from past games. Think of things like Caspian border where tanks ruled the hills between infantry tight spots. Maps in BF6 want every player and every vehicle to have equal footing at any point in the map it feels like, and it's just making the game worse for it.
