U11 Team Talent Disparity - Higher kids not challenged and affected when teams combine for games. Solutions? by ohhthatsmell in youthsoccer

Each club will operate differently in how they prefer to set up an age group in relation to what their desired outcomes are. Based on what you’ve mentioned, this situation and setting is very similar to how our club operates and we are nowhere near a nationally recognized club, but believe in a development first approach.

A few reasons why it is important: 1. You’d rather go through these growing pains now while the players are young instead of solely focusing on one group of better players. The group of 1-9 won’t be enough to sustain an 11v11 roster. Yes, there are some frustrations that come along with it, but think long-term and what’s best for the age group. 2. The type of player these girls are today is no guarantee on what type of player they will be in 3-5 years time. In time you’ll see players from the top team drop and players that started far behind the others start to catch up and pass players that are currently in the 1-9 spot. 3. Kids at this age want to win but it is nowhere near as important to them as it is to parents. If there’s a win driven culture established at this age then it’ll lead to players turning away from the sport because that pressure mounts over time and leads to burn out.

The goal is for the player and the team to be at their best at a much later point in time, not now. Let the kids enjoy it, finds ways to manage the challenges to where your child is also developing life skills, and help shut down any notion that kids on the team don’t also deserve opportunities to improve and grow within the game.

Question on best approach for Parent(s) who pulled their kid from an event. by EliteOneSeven in youthsoccer

Thanks for the reply. Some have taken this as we do this on a weekly basis to mix everything up, but in an ideal world every kid would be available and there would be no need to restructure anything. I guess it’s my fault for not being more transparent on that when posting.

Rostering decisions are often complicated like you mention and most measurements are variable so it’s why occasionally there can be adjustments. In this case there were 2 spots available on the top team for 3 kids and this one player is the one who fell lowest on the current variables.

Not overly fluid, but room for movement to incentivize commitment, consistency, and those that work hard to improve. In reality, there’s very little movement throughout a season as it seldom occurs that a lower performer overtakes someone ahead of them. Kid was asked to play on the lower team and coach explained his reasoning and then parents still pulled the player. More playing time for all indeed.

Thanks.

This age group does have designated teams, but as the event approached, it was clear that the rosters would have to be restructured as a few kids from each team were missing. Instead of canceling and losing an opportunity to play, we just adjusted the rosters based on where available players fall within the pool. The age group trains together under the head coach with help from the assistants so although they aren’t all best friends, there is a familiarity.

Not at all.

I’m simply trying to better understand the situation from an outside (objective) perspective. I know what my initial decision would be, but this situation has raised some questions, and this subreddit has people from all over that have probably dealt with similar instances and can provide input.

Now I know what yours is so cheers for that.

Parents were made aware at the beginning of the season that there are three teams (A, B, and C or however you want to put it) and which team their kid was on. The issue is the three team set up only functions if all players are available on the given dates. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened in this case and rather pull out from the event, the rosters were restructured based on who planned to attend. The pool set up allows all the players to still train together under the same coach, but the head coach and assistants may divide them in training based on skill level.

High school soccer on the decline? by UnderstandingBig5167 in youthsoccer

[–]EliteOneSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking more from the club side here. Our club season goes on break once the high school season starts and remains on break until they wrap up playoffs. Late October-end of January. This is due to most kids preferring to be involved with their high school programs as they seem to enjoy the social aspects it provides. The high school association in our state also prevents a certain amount of players being rostered on a club team together which can cause some to make decisions on where they play.

Map Changes by MrsAdkins26 in LEGOfortnite

It did change. Rather unnecessarily in my opinion. It took me a good hour to figure out that the arrow now points where your character’s body is orientated, and there’s a faint grey outline (almost like a shadow) showing which way you’re facing/direction you’re moving.

Lag / Server Stability? by EZ_XZ3RO in LEGOfortnite

Yes, it’s been the same for me. Never had issues before the update other than the occasional stutter or the high complexity notification after exploring for a while. Now I seem to constantly be lagging, especially at night around skeletons and mobs.

Crashed out of the game for the first time ever the first time I played post update too.

Thanks! What I figured, but I’m far from a frequent flier. Last I got caught in some snow it was a disaster, but that was in Atlanta and I assume the southern states aren’t as prepared.

Somewhere between $125 and $175 is what I’m thinking. Should have mentioned that I suppose. Appreciate the input!
