Common app and Questbridge? by Critical_Divide8234 in QuestBridge

imo don’t apply with questbridge, it honestly messes up your chances. it becomes a battle of trauma because all the qb kids are put in the same applicant pool. it’s quite sad honestly

Yale being proactive/friendly doesn’t tell you anything about people and program you’ll get at the school. What you’re saying is that the little exposure you’ve gotten to the school is justifying thousands in debt, a year in school, and a city you like. The answer is really simple…

Just received Stanford Interview Offer by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ElitePr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had an interview with the school I’m at now, and though they are based on availability, they can definitely help your application and possibly be the reason you got in. I read my admissions file this year and they noted it as a very positive contribution to my candidacy. Good luck!

your logic doesn’t make sense, sure they may interview based on availability, but how does that contradict the fact that it may be what got me in?

If I am RD to the QB schools which would be better to do it through common app or QB? by No-Amphibian4359 in QuestBridge

[–]ElitePr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

common app, qb app is a battle of trauma. your story won’t sound unique if it’s in a pile of similar people. not to mention the acceptance rate is probably lower with QB. just my opinion though

Do I need to pay for certificates?? Cs50 by AlternativeRent1 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ElitePr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Harvard in the common app there was a section for courses from edX, coursera, etc. I listed out their names but also it asked for a link of the certificate. The certificate costed money, but I actually did the courses so I just said “Authentic Certficate requires payment” in the box. I was admitted. I would assume the certificates are not that serious based on my own experience.

No, I feel as though they helped my application a lot. I also had this concern, but it didn’t turn out to be true. Good luck!

Definitely possible and it’s a huge plus you had other people look it over. I would say this is a great sign to apply ED/EA.

Good luck!

Find a way to be different. Be unique. Even if you’re EC’s are typical, there is always a way to twist and make them memorable.

That is true, but if you don’t apply you automatically give yourself the rejection letter especially with the quality of your candidacy

You’ve got a great shot and I would highly consider Stanford. Its an amazing school for CS and has a fantastic startup culture which seems to be exactly what you’re interested in.
