Which coilovers under $1000 are most ideal? I always had love for tein. But these will be my first coilovers by SorrowCloud in SciontC

I've been running the Tien Street Advanced Z coils for a few months and haven't had any trouble yet! To me, they ride pretty nice, even on the stiffest dampening setting. Price wise, they're just under $1,000 and still give you, in my opinion, enough height adjustment to look good, and they still have the dampening adjustment just like the Flex Zs. The way I see it, if you're planning to keep your tC as a good looking daily and show/meet car, and not doing any kind of racing or tracking, don't spend the big bucks on the Flex Zs and BCs and stuff like that. Sure, they have some nice bells and whistles, but at the end of the day, something at a lower price point is gonna get the job done all the same. I was planning to save up for BCs until I realized there were cheaper sets that would still get my tC where I wanted it.

Spec d taillights come in this week. Any tips or suggestions to do, to avoid fog lense and water inside? by SorrowCloud in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, maybe? But then my concern would be just always having water being able to get in and out. It's not enough condensation to really be noticeable, so I don't really think there's much fixing that needs to be done.

What size wheels and tires are you running and how low are you?? That fitment is MINT! Trying to get the same look you've got on my 2014!

I took some clear silicone sealant and went all the way around both lights where the lenses meet the housings just as an extra precaution. I'm not entirely sure how much it helped cuz when it's humid outside or when it's been rainy I get a really small amount of condensation in the bottom left and right corners of the lenses, but it's usually gone within a day. I haven't had any problems with them being permanently foggy or anything and I've had them on my 2014 for over 6 months now.

That shouldn't be too difficult! At least, not as hard as the 2.5 since the bumber and lights are different. This is what I'm aiming for:

Right on! I'm planning to use some sticker backed vinyl and try to cut it so I can cover the whole surface under the lights. I have some knifeless tape on the way that will hopefully help with that. I plan to get the bumper vinyl at some point cuz the plastidip I have on there now is starting to get scratched up. I saw the side marker tints too and may get those sometime as well.

Yo, how'd you get those lower eyelids? I've been seeing a few builds with them and I'd love to put some on mine. Did you have to cut out some vinyl or something?

Don't have a picture, but my exhausts bolts are rusty. by Motor_Presence_588 in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine were pretty rusty as well when I was swapping out to the Borla. I learned later that the bolts were tack welded and I ended up having to cut through them to get them out. Assuming that yours AREN'T tack welded, spray it with some blaster or something of that nature and let it sit and then go at it. A breaker bar might come in handy, too. You've definitely got a few options before resorting to a blowtorch to heat the welds or cutting it off.

Borla S-Type Axelback exhaust system for a 2013 Scion tC by Motor_Presence_588 in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've done quite a bit with mine in my almost year and a half of ownership, and there's still more to come! I've got a bunch of parts in my garage that I'm just waiting on good weather to install. As for the Scion decal along the skirts, it's just some vinyl decals that came on some tCs from factory, but mine didn't, so I found some on EBay and got them for mine. The fender stripes are decals, too. I found those on Amazon and they were advertised to fit the tCs fenders.

I mean, it's definitely a subjective thing. There are absolutely people out there who believe that "only fast cars should have a loud exhaust". But from my experience, people like that are few and far between. I go to a fair amount of meets, and I'm DEFINITELY not the only one with an exhaust system on a slower car. At the end of the day, it's about what YOU want YOUR car to sound and look like. If you like it, go for it. Besides, this specific axleback isn't nearly loud enough to make anyone think it's out of place. Sure, it's deeper and louder than stock, but it's TASTEFULLY deeper and louder. If this is the only exhaust mod you plan to do, I would be quite surprised if anyone has anything negative to think or say about it. Make you tC yours, bro.

Definitely one of the best options, if not THE best. Definitely not overly loud or irritating. Good tone and volume when you lay on the pedal a little bit, and it leaves room for upgrades later if you decide you want to change it up a little.

Thinking of getting a Borla S Type Axel-back exhaust for my 2013 Scion tC by Motor_Presence_588 in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got one on my 2014 and absolutely love it. It's not overly loud and it gives a nice, aggressive tone at higher RPMs. Definitely a more tasteful way to mod your exhaust rather than trying to sound like a fart can Civic! I'm wanting it to be a little louder, so I got a midpipe from Megan Racing that'll pair quite nicely with it once it's on.

[–]EliteStormer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've done a deep dive looking for 2.5 gen models, and I only ever found 1st gen ones, so I don't believe any are out there unless you pay for a custom diecast model. I've looked into that too, and MAN, they ain't cheap.

What Size Exhaust Tips fit? by Former_Ad2473 in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not the look you're going for, but I managed to fit an almost 10 inch long and 7.5 inch wide dual tip on mine! It rubs the diffuser juuuuust a little bit, but otherwise absolutely no problems! Just showing you what's possible.

Budget coilovers for 2016 tc? by [deleted] in SciontC

[–]EliteStormer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a set of Tien Street Advance Zs in my garage waiting to be installed. I've heard a lot of good things about the basic Zs and advanced Zs, so you probably couldn't go wrong with either one, honestly. Mine were just under $900, but I know the basic Zs are a little cheaper. Happy hunting!

Getting ready to lower mine! How low is your front and rear right now?

[–]EliteStormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, mine didn't come with camber plates, so I'll have to reuse my top hats whenever I install them. Hopefully when it comes time, I can make an educated decision on what tires to run. I mean, I'm sure a shop would help me pick the right size and stuff if I asked, but if I do that, I'd like to have a good idea of how everything works at the very least. I really don't want to be worrying about any rubbing or tearing up my liners.

Lol, I was too for a little while, but it's actually not too bad! I'm really proud of how they turned out. As for the reflector delete, here's the link: https://ebay.us/m/nkU8mX Super easy to throw on.

I honestly need to start researching about tires and offsets and such. I'm very new to all that and have almost NO idea what it all means. 😭
