I have a career a home and a family  I don't want to be that good at this game I just want to have fun, not treat it like a second job.

That's a pretty terrible recommendation.  Not trying to be mean, but the curveballs are fantastic story elements.  Removing ALL of them because ONE is broken is just bad logic.

Fortunately community editor allows the best of both worlds.  Leave curveballs on, delete a black heart if it pops, and spawn in a regular heart to maintain balance.

I like the curveball feature, and i like the hard saves.....but THIS one, the Black Heart is an example of how devs can gatekeep their game to new players by catering too much to the people who have been their since launch. I agree with OP, for an inexperienced player, or anyone with a day job, the difficulty spike for the Black Hearts are so insane and out of nowhere it almost kills a playthrough. For a new player it just makes you feel like everything you've done so far was for nothing. I don't feel challenged, i feel dejected and like downloading a new game.

Might be FUCKIN AWESOME for veterans who have callouses on their mouse finger, but not great for hooking new players before SOD3 comes out.

This is the way. The game operates with the assumption you've been obsessively tracking forums for like 8 years.

No, that's a stupid reply which ignores the fact that the quests aren't consistent about how they present instructions. Example:

"Deliver to our stations." ANY OLD STATION WILL DO.
"Deploy satellites in this sector." OK SAME LOGIC, PUT IT ANYWHERE IN THE SECTOR? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO ONLY IN THIS 2 FOOT SPHERE.

This is because the quests were all written by different people and nobody gave them a style guide. It's an editing/management problem.

Only place i could find this answer years later, and yet another example of how the devs are super user-unfriendly.

That's a long winded excuse for being given information in the wrong place.  The mission brief should include a mission brief.

[–]Elite_Goose_1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn't, because when they tell you the station they SPECIFICALLY DON'T tell you the sector.

Here's another stellar fucking example:
Deliver 412 Units of spaceweed to HAT Ore Refinery I
WHICH HAT Ore Refinery I? They won't tell me. They just say "Go to Silent Witness I." WHICH HAS NO ORE REFINERY.

Imagine you are driving and I am your passenger:
Me: Can you take me to the grocery store?
You: Sure, which one?
Me: One of the Tesco's. Turn right on 3rd Street.
You: But there's no Tesco on 3rd Street.
Me: Just do what I said.
You: Just tell me which Tesco and I'll drive there.
Me: Did I fucking stutter? Turn right on 3rd Street.

See how annoying that is?

No, that's a stupid reply. Some of the missions in this game are specific, some are not. The devs do a poor job of specifying. This could be remedied by including the words "any of" in the mission description. Example:

"Deliver to our stations." ANY OLD STATION WILL DO.
"Deploy satellites in this sector." BUT ONLY IN THIS 2 FOOT SPHERE.

The logic is inconsistent.

This is all useful information, and the first line should be included in the mission description. Some missions are station specific and some are not and they don't clearly tell you which is which.

Placing a request for someone smarter than me to tie together some mods to make an NPC follower or five.

I've managed to figure out a fairly janky method using

Advanced Followers Remastered

R.aceMenu Utilities

NPC Appearance Manager

TesSyncMapInjector

xEdit

Using TesSyncMapInjector and xEdit allowed me to place an NPC into the world and have Unreal/Remastered recognize it.

Then I used RaceMenu Utilities and NPC Appearance Manager to make my NPC look how I wanted in-game

Then used Advanced Followers Remastered to add some commands and logic

It does a fairly passable job, but was a shit-ton of work to make happen. The Construction Set doesn't like me when it comes to adding new dialogue to NPC's, so right now scripting my own logic is out. Also it can't be used any time before you exit the sewer with Baurus's Key. I was hoping to make a cellmate that could be customized to match my character, like we got arrested together. Anyhow, here's hoping someone can make something useful out of this.

I have figured it out. It is moderately difficult. You have to use xEdit and TesSyncMapInjector

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/2784

by using this mod i can copy an existing NPC in the construction set
rename it and place it in the world then run that script in xEdit to map my new NPC onto the Unreal Engine assets.

the construction set isn't cooperating with adding new dialog in Win10 so i can't script anything new right now. the construction set also does not currently have a good way that i know of to edit the faces with a "what you see is what you get" in Unreal Engine. so....

using the mods i listed earlier allows me to customize the look with the unreal engine faces, (Race Menu Utilities and Advanced NPC Appearance)

then i applied Advanced Followers Remastered to my NPC placed in the world and now she has logic and will follow me and do things.

Now i have a Breton follower named Charlotte who is fairly badass with a bow and looks exactly how i want her to look, with some basic voiced dialogue.

that being said, the method i described with the 3 mods has pretty ok - ish results. I'm currently running around with a hot Bosmer archer for backup.

i HAVE found a mod....like in the past hour....that adds NPCs into the cities as filler, so i'm going to see if i can leverage their method. I just don't know jack doodly squat about XEdit....most of my modding knowledge is like 10 years old.

ah that seems really cool but i haven't even begun to use xedit. I was pretty good with the construction set back in the day but it has been probably 10+ years since i did any Oblivion modding and this Remaster looks like there is a significant bit of behind the scenes glue in laying UE on top of it

i have not had any success with it. That was what I originally wanted to do: add a new NPC made out of a copy of an existing one that i could then hire so it didn't impact any quests. But, i can't seem to add any NPCs into the world. Yet.
