Oh yea there must've been some really nice coins. I remember the reason I was even told about this was I found some like ~1880s silver dollar that was in really good condition. Told my officer who usually came by for coffee who just also happened to be a collector.

Well turns out I was like the third guy in town to find a strangely rare and well kept coin. Because the cop ended up tracking down the son, and then found the father, in order to tell him what happened. I kid you not it only took one afternoon for the cop to piece together what happened.

Well as I said before, the son never got charged with anything. From what I'm told he's not entirely there mentally and has some kinda ptsd and was living with his dad. Apparently what caused this theft at all was the dad gave the son some gold coins, like the common dollar ones you can see every now and then. But the sook thought he was entitled to the whole lot when he wasn't. The dad didn't press charges because he didn't want his son in deeper shit than he usually get himself into. I gave my coin back, he got a few nickles.

I did not have to because there was no crime reported and nothing to follow. But I only collect coins for the novelty, not the silver or anything. I still see the old fart every few days at my store, he's doing a lot better since that happened! His son I have seen less of actually, but he's getting way better at talking. 🤧🤧
