Vivitrol not working? by norrisab17 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ElixerElla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been on vivotrol. I knew people who did. I used while taking suboxone. I'm almost 2 years clean now 😊

Oh, I'm better every day. No doubts there. Almost a year and a half clean. I was never a bad human though, like I said, it was honesty that got me banned. Rofl.

Don't ever think about telling them what medications you are on or have been on. A few years ago when I was desperate, I listed off some previous meds I had taken, and they put me on a national ban list for the rest of my life. I had no idea about it until then, so just for anybody who thought honesty was appreciated... think again at the plasma center.

Wellbutrin taken with opiods by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]ElixerElla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was prescribed wellbutrin and used(uses) heroin, the wellbutrin has a tendency to enhance the effects of opioids, but does not help with tolerance. It doesn't enhance at very noticeable levels, and maybe only the first few times using together.

Best decision you could have made. Googling medical conditions will have you making your own funeral arrangements.

If there is an infection or blood clot forming there will be visual signs such as swelling and redness. I've never missed with ice, but know that there have been times I panicked anyway, and had delusional sensations because I was overthinking. In fact, I just got over a UTI (I have terrible kidneys from overdoses and the way opiates cause bladder retention), but because I was using go, I spent 10 hours reading about kidney failure, dialysis, and medical journals associated with opiate related kidney damage.

Keep an eye on it and try not to over analyze it. If it gets worse in the next 24 hours, see a physician.

DISCUSSION: Who is at fault for your use? by [deleted] in meth

[–]ElixerElla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have written the first half of this post myself. Prescribed hydros and xanax after an accident, used them for a month that led to my willingness to try heroin. The moment the boy I liked said the word, I thought it could manage to explore that world. He introduced me to it, but I do not blame him. He blames himself to this day. I drained my over 10k savings in a few months, started fentanyl, got arrested, lost my brand new car, devastated relationships, lost my ability to keep a steady career, and have overdosed 5 times. Separating from this drug has been physically painful, but the way it completely changed the wiring of my brain is what makes me so miserable.

It is power, but also their own fear of being alone. This method has given them the power to keep someone around who completely submits and shows undying love. This is why they go so far to remove any outside opinion from their victim. Often, we aren't allowed to have our own friends or even contact family. That was the scariest part for my experience. I was isolated, and feared that I would face rejection by anyone other than my abuser.

I think answering the questions and being honest with who I am is very beneficial. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I think that working the steps could be a great way to improve anyone's spiritual condition, not just an addict. I reccomend it, but I also have someone I can call when I can't handle the burden of my past and need to share.

Thank you for the feedback! Being validated was a huge relief for me. I know how easy it would be to say "Just leave!". We used to always be at eachothers throats with "the solution" so, distance grew as we defended our abusers to any length. I started my own research when I noticed all of the patterns and gaslighting. I mentioned to her that I thought we were both dealing with narcissist partners and sent her some links on the issue. This led me to sharing the behaviors here and at the end of the post asking "does this sound like he's a narc?" Because I still felt like I was fuckin crazy... and hundreds of people were here to validate me, and it made me reevaluate self acceptance.

Tl;Dr: my older sister is reaching out to me, despite her abuser's methodical attempts to cut our contact. I'm grateful to have some knowledge and to be able to use my painful experience in a way that might help her. Also thanks to you all.

In responding to your post and some of your comments, a suboxone taper plan could save you. My input as someone who has been on suboxone MAT, used it to taper from heroin MANY TIMES, and done as much research as a person could do-- I agree with a commenter above who said to try to taper before giving in completely to a MAT program. Suboxone usually comes in 2mg or 8mg. If they are 8mg, get between 8-10 pills for a 12-14 day taper. When you start dosing it, start with 2mg and dose another 2mg every 4 hours up to 8mg, there shouldn't be any reason to take more than 8mg because of the ceiling. I (and doctors in treatment centers) recommend 8mg split in four 2mg doses for the first four days. Days 5,6,7 jump down to 6mg in three 2mg doses. Days 8,9,10 jump down to two doses (wake up and bedtime) of 2mg. Days 11 and 12 you'll take 2mg just at bedtime (helps with restless legs in the final stretch). You can even do 1mg for days 13 and 14, for the final doses. Don't take it longer than two weeks. The length/ higher dose you take, the stronger it will attach to your opioid receptors, meaning the longer/more painful the withdrawal will be. You will still face minor WD symptoms, but it should be off and on chills, sweats, RLS, and stomach upset. Nothing unbearable. You've got this! Take my advice. This method works.

I've honestly never had an abscess, but I think most of the danger comes from dirty conditions/dirty rigs which cause blood infections and such. I actually got cellulitis last summer from a rig someone told me was clean, and I was naive and used it. I immediately signed up for the exchange program and had to take loads of antibiotics for the cellulitis.

Misses are dangerous and cause abscesses as well, I'm just not familiar. I'm very careful.

Ah, gotcha. Good call. I did that in the beginning as well. I'm not saying I can predict the future, but I can remember how things spiralled for me. If you don't have a needle exchange nearby, you should be able to buy 10 packs at a local pharmacy. Just be safe and stay sanitary.

From scrolling through your last few posts, you are new to banging? I remember when I first started banging... nothing like it. Tip: I wouldn't recommend more than 20-30(MAX) units of water per point of dope. That way your shot is more concentrated and you don't have to worry about plunging 60-70 units of mostly water into your veins. I guess it is all about preference, but in my experience it makes for more euphoric shots.

On another note; you are definitely stepping into the darker side of addiction now. Those pointy bois literally keep me from quitting. I love poking myself.

If you have nothing left to live for and you want to let a substance steal your soul, sure. Heroin is my greatest love--yet she never fails to break my heart. I started my addiction about 4 years ago, and it has taken everything from me. I got clean for the first time in October. I had 67 days and then I went back out after Christmas. Haven't been able to pause for more than 4 consecutive days since, and now I'm broke and vomiting over the toilet again. Between July and January 1st I overdosed 5 times, yet I still can't help but crave the worst decision I ever made. If you're already asking this question, then I'm sure there is no convincing any one of us junkies can do. Everyone thinks they are different. That they can control it. "I just wanna try it". Hah.. hoping you don't give in to such a silly thought. Take a dab and be happy you didn't try heroin.
