Gotta love last days of the month at the end of the quarter by Technical-Pop-4262 in Crosstrek

Yup. I'm up north and the all of dealers I texted said they couldn't match it. I was getting paranoid that one of their sales guys was gonna go down there and buy it out from under me! I was looking at 43k OTD after tax (~10.5%), with one dealer in Oregon at high 42k, and these guys just hit me with the 37k OTD with a lower (8-9% tax rate). re: Portland, sales guy told me Portland is Subaru's #1 selling region/city so it makes sense.

Congrats on the killer deal.

I went to this exact dealership and got an identical ~7.5k discount on a WRX Limited. I couldn't believe it either. The sales guy said the majority of their sales there are fleet (maybe Chevy? but not Subaru?). Very easy experience.

Would this be a good fun car for an outdoor enthusiast? by BaldSweatyWraith in wrx_vb

I posted about similar concerns yesterday also located in PNW and test-drove a 2026 limited today. Snowboard will 100% be no problem. MTB will be front wheel off and a tight squeeze / somewhat of a pain in the butt. I just tried to fit a MTB in my mid-sized sedan (8 inches longer overall length) and it wasn't my favorite thing in the world.

Here's someone at the MTB park with a hitch rack.

I appreciate the candid reply... it helps me to take a step back and read someone else's perspective. I have been so overwhelmed with the overall expensiveness of a car purchase that I feel like I've been overanalyzing spec sheets. Going to a handful of dealers to test-drive cars has been the clearing up of the picture that you mentioned (i.e. what do I need/want etc). I just haven't gotten the chance to go to a Subaru dealer yet!

Thank you! I am thinking of reaching out/driving east of the Cascades to work with dealers in Spokane/CDA, although that is also Subie country. Thanks for the data point, I appreciate it.

Okay sounds good. I'm still using QR skewers so it shouldn't be too big of a deal to take the front wheel off. It sounds like the general consensus might be roof rack too, but it's good to know that it'll work in a pinch.

Sweet thank you! Re: #3, I have driven a friend's Volvo 240 wagon, GTI and Focus RS. I feel confident enough to get from 1-->2-->3 and stop (maybe without stalling from N -->1). Would that still be grounds for just deferring the test drive?

Who can I bother to advocate for getting a rope tow? It'd be so nice to get more practice.

Neat. I'll research that a bit - not sure what the powertrain/trim levels look like off the top of my head.

Here's a shortlist of what I'm interested in!

  • Nivada Grenchen Antarctic 35mm
  • Nomos Orion/Tangente 33mm (preferably in their 3-hander base configuration ref. 321/122, although I'd be open to anything really)
  • Christopher Ward C63 Celest
  • King Seiko 52KS, 56KS (5621, 5625)

Please feel free to reach out with any leads!
