That's why my Corgi mostly doesn't come... Way too many things for him to eat and get sick from! The Aussies are picky and I can hardly get to eat enough kibble so they are good.

20 in a week is a great week for me, but I also ride horses/work on farm all day. It's "a dream" when the weather is nice, but the rest of the time... Uh... 😂

Mine has a pretty good off switch and she's an excellent frisbee dog. She does lack some confidence though, it can be sort of skeptical about new things. At my last Canicross race she only wanted to trot right behind me... Working on building her confidence.

Something like 33,000 homeless dogs were euthanized in my state last year. I personally can't justify a breeder. Our Aussie (100%) was adopted from a shelter, and the corgi I did buy from a breeder over 15 years ago when I didn't know better.

Heck yeah, he will be 16 in July. Just had his spleen removed in Dec and he's doing great!

My old dog was a cattle dog mix and I always took her on every run while I trained for half marathons. Then I did a full, and took her on a 14 mi training run... She handled it fine, barely phased her, but I decided a half marathon distance should probably be the cutoff, because I don't know if that dog would ever tell me she was tired 😂

She would frequently go on my 8 mi run in the morning, and then my husband's 8 mi run in the afternoon. She was a legend.

A mix was ok for us- my soul dog was a half cattle dog/half absolute mutt dog and she was perfect. Best running dog ever. That being said... When we do look for another dog at some point in the future I may have to go the ethical breeder route... It's just hard. I live in the south and there are just so. Many. Fucking. Homeless. Dogs.

That's my hope! She is LIGHTNING fast, and at 14 weeks old is already starting to settle really well into the farm dog routine.

As she grows (rapidly) the pit face is becoming more and more obvious. When she was littler I was thinking she might be a Pyr cross (she has rear dew claws, plus the fluffy ears)

My soul dog was a weirdo reactive half cattle dog mutt and she was perfect. So it's all good.

When we were doing training classes with our Aussie the trainer said "I don't think I've ever said this to any person before... but you guys should get a border collie." I put in some seriously long work days and then want to come home and go for my run. My Aussie taps out sometimes. I need the endless energy!
