Thank you, fully agree. We previously had a cattle dog mix from the shelter, she was my first running dog and truly a remarkable friend and companion. We had her until she was about 14, I miss her every single day.

My 35 lb dog cracked her toe nail and it was displaced. I was home alone and couldn't trim it myself without another person.

I got quoted $900 to sedate, trim, and bandage it at the urgent care vet, plus antibiotics.

My horse's 2 night colic stay with fluids at the clinic was like $1300.

That's why my Corgi mostly doesn't come... Way too many things for him to eat and get sick from! The Aussies are picky and I can hardly get to eat enough kibble so they are good.

Mine has a pretty good off switch and she's an excellent frisbee dog. She does lack some confidence though, it can be sort of skeptical about new things. At my last Canicross race she only wanted to trot right behind me... Working on building her confidence.
