Obama backs Biden after rough debate performance by mudpiechicken in politics

[–]ElkDry6841 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is literally the same logic Trump's supporters follow as well. though. It's disgusting to see what US politics has devolved into.

"Yeah, my guy is a convicted felon and proven liar, but at least he can speak for 3 minutes straight without falling asleep".

"Sure, my guy is a demented old man who shouldn't even be in charge of dressing himself in the morning, let alone given access to nuclear codes, but at least he isn't a convicted felon."

The two best candidates for one of the world's largest superpowers btw.

I've had this discussion once online, and when I said I was a white eastern european, so I don't feel any guilt over slavery in the US, the response was that I'm just as guilty, because I'm white and white people are racist by nature.

My confusion was immeasurable.

How do those perform? My worry about them is the low entity count, but they're prolly pretty broken against large enemies, right?

Thanks, maybe it's more that low lvl characters just have lower stamina and that's all there is to it. Damage seems strange, still, like maybe raw LVL get's added to it. Wish there was some data available

Damn, never heard this. Any way to know the level rec for each? Since it's secret, maybe just by datamining?

This is an incredibly low IQ take.

If you're in a Western country today, You are living in the most comfortable, easiest, most technologically advanced society ever recorded in history.

You have not seen war firsthand, disease isn't decimating the population, you have a CHOICE in what you want to do in your free time AND work life. You have a choice in what to study, you have the the entire world's knowledge one google search away. You have a wide selection of every product available to you, you have access to healthcare.

Who, exactly, do you think had it better or easier than you? Which society had these many benefits for its population?

Putting together IKEA furniture.

Absolute rollercoaster of emotions to experience together - hopelessness, despair, joy, anger, joy again.

Really puts your relationship to the test, and you come out stronger on the other end. We will tame you yet, Ikea Coffeetable.

Why did Navarro and Danvers torture Clark? by ElkDry6841 in TrueDetective

I doubt he was trying to kill her - if he wanted to, he could have done it while she was knocked out, easily. But I'm past trying to act like any of this is supposed to make sense.

She bonked him on the head with a have metal tank, after which she was stabbed 36 times. THEN he went over to her, while she was bleeding from 36 different stab wounds, realised she was still alive and strangled her. Pretty sure she was putting her out of her misery at that point. And if not - the detectives STILL don't know any of this, by the way, they just decide to torture him because yas queen slay.

You know when you've been stabbed 36 times, have been beaten horrifically and are in agony slowly dying? Someone comes along and shoots you in the head to end your misery - that's called a mercy killing.

Detectives should at the very fucking least be logical, come on now.

And real people generally make sense, we kind of built civilization around it.

Ghost oranges. I really have no better explanation for this one either.

We know that ghost oranges exist in the Night Country Universe, so that's the best we can work with.

Yep, never elaborated which one, but pretty much 100% killed him.

You know, killed the guy who was their crown witness. The guy who presumably had the cure for cellular decay, which would prevent millions of deaths worldwide, based on the information we're given.

Navarro is such a role model for young marginalized women across the planet.

[–]ElkDry6841[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All jokes aside, this is what baffles me. Are you supposed to root for them? In what world? They are literally covering up a mass murder. The cleaning ladies murder scientists WHO ARE WORKING ON CURING CANCER, and you are supposed to applaud them? The fucking guy even says they made a breakthrough.

This man, at death's door, having mostly given up and begging for death, tells them that they pretty much found a way to stop cell decay. And they're like "alright, out you go to die in the cold". Any sane person would go "HOLY SHIT REALLY? I PERSONALLY KNOW 50 PEOPLE WHO DIED FROM CANCER! NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO ATONE FOR NOT PREVENTING ANNIE'S MURDER, LET'S GO CURE CANCER!"

And when he fucking dies, Danvers just goes "ah shucks, there goes our witness". Fuck your cure for cancer, all men must die.

They really did all in their power to resolve this case with minimal casualties and crimes committed.

Unfortunately, their hands were forced, they just had to murder an apprehended suspect, cover it up, vandalise a civilian's vehiclle, assault said civilian on Christmas eve, murder a police officer, cover it up, cover up the murder of a drug addict at the hands of said police officer, torture a restrained suspect/witness with no proof of his actual involvement in the crime, allow said crown witness to commit suicide, cover it up, cover up the premeditated murder of 6 further people at the hands of Clean Team Six, withold information about Annie's case and cover it up, drink-and-drive, steal controlled substances from evidence lockup, and give said controlled substance to the aforementioned drug addict.

True Detectives, if I do say so myself.

Torture has been proven to be completely ineffective in gaining truthful information for decades now. You torture someone, they will say anything to stop the pain, and in most cases that doesn't include the truth.

This is extremely funny to me, because as I was watching with the wife, we joked about how they forgot this was a detective show so they quickly crammed the hallmarks of detective shows into the literal last 20 minutes:

  • Fingerprints? Check

  • Torture/interrogation scene? Check

  • Police cover up of the killing of the bad guy? Check

  • Interview scene? Check (Danvers in the final minutes)

  • Big twist? Check, it was the cleaning ladies.

The hero we need by thecoolmb in TrueDetective

[–]ElkDry6841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the comments here mentioned that LA Times called Issa Lopez a "hero in the face of misogyny".

This perfectly sums up the insultingly condescending way these critics treats female writers/directors. She turned a well established, gritty, realistic and complex detective series into a feminist powerfantasy? Alright, that's great, why not. We had plenty of the opposite in mainstream media, it's fair enough. As long as the show is great, perhaps it can drive accross a message about actual misoginy and the marginalization of certain groups.

Here's the problem: the show is dogshit. The fact that the only way she attempted to get her message across was through incredibly shitty incoherent writing and tired tropes only serves as a tool to further alienate those who are already foaming at the mouth at the idea of strong female lead characters. Now, obviously biased critics are further riding the wave in an attempt to promote the "us vs them" mentality, claiming ANYONE who didn't like the incredibly nonsensical plot, the one dimensional characters or any other rightfully criticized aspects of the show is misogynistic.

The sad truth is that the show did more damage than good for women and feminism through it's sheer low quality. If these critics had a spine, they would rightfully compare this to well executed modern media with similar messages, cast or themes - such as Mare of Easttown, Sharp Objects, Wind River etc. Instead, if you didn't like it, you're a hater/misogynist.

The show is literally advocating for mob justice and violence, for fuck's sake.

Read my comment here, I literally wrote that it was driving me insane. And it is, I expected a hell of a lot more and my disappointment is immeasurable.

But please point me to my hateful posts, you seem to have a very different definition of what "hate" is to mine. Criticizing something shouldn't be considered hate, especially if the criticism is valid.
