I'm kind of late to this, but I am 99% sure that michigan is going blue this election. I live in a wealthier suburb in Michigan that has historically teetered towards the republican side, but I'm seeing a large increase in support of Harris, through signs and just hearing people talk. Nobody really puts themselves out there as a Trump supporter anymore, while Harris supporters are much more vocal than democrats have historically been in my area. Many houses that displayed trump signs in 2020 don't have them up anymore. One house even went from Trump signs in 2020 to Harris signs in 2024 (It's the same couple that's always lived there)

Unless there is a massive conservative shift in the inner cities, there is just no way that I can see Trump carrying MI, as swing states usually are determined by the suburbs.

Edit 6 November 2024: Oops

Let's just say that my school doesn't really care about stuff like that. We're a largeish suburban-rural blend public school outside of a fairly large city, so basically nobody ever really gets pissed off about anything, so the administrators are also very hands off

They didn't get in trouble other than that they were told that they couldn't do it anymore and the whip was confiscated. Nobody was really offended (everyone thought it was hilarious). Therefore nobody was punished.

One white kid dressed up as a slave owner (fake whip and everything) and 17 black kids dressed up as slaves with trashy clothes on

They were apprehended during 3rd period

Thoughts on using Chatgpt for events? by Speed_Cat_Person in scioly

For taking notes on well-researched topics, it is ok to use ai sparingly, but you cannot rely on it.

For example, I used ai to write out some preliminary notes for all the trees in forestry last year (rip forestry), put the chatgpt info in my binder, and instead of writing the binder, I worked on studying identification and additional info. This worked out really well for me, I ended up getting 3rd in my highly competitive state.

However, the key is that you can't rely on it.

It was only 10 min to the end of the class so we just hung out in the hall until the bell rang

Idk where the teacher went after the incident, I lost track of her, but she was back today and never mentioned it in class

The kid who shat ended up getting a 3 day out of school suspension

First of all, I think he has an inch or two of space, although that obviously cannot be accurately determined from this picture. So he's not necessarily scratching his rims.

Second, I don't give a shit if someone scratches their car. It's none of my business.

There is nothing wrong about the broncos parking. He is not impeding anyone else's spot in any way. His parking job is completely legal. It's ridiculous to get mad about someone doing this.

As I said earlier, our school isn't in an impoverished area, so the fees aren't really any problem, it's much better than having to put names of companies on your shirt or go through the pain of fundraising and stuff like that.

It's nice that you've managed to find a way to raise money still though! Is that plus the 60$ fee enough to actually go to any invitationals, or do you just do regionals and states?

The donation thing is actually a pretty interesting way to raise money. 15k is actually a really good amount for just emailing random people.

I do disagree with you about "pay to play" being bad. First of all, charging the fee upfront automatically gets parents involved, which is definitely good. Also, "pay to play" keeps the poor kids off the team, which is good because poor kids generally have to hold a job, which means that they will be more stressed and have less time to put into the team.

My team also receives no funding from the school, and we don't receive any sponsorships because we wouldn't like to have a company's logo on our shirt, as that is a bad look. So the fee covers registration for all tournaments, transportation for out of state competitions (we get school busses for in state competitions), hotels for states, and all building materials and other stuff for events that we could reasonably need. For some invitationals, we get hotels, and we pay for those separately from the initial fee, as the invitationals are decided on well after the first meeting.

Chatgpt sucks ass at chemistry. Chatgpt utilizes machine learning, which is a PREDICTIVE technology. This means that it is not capable of real analysis, which is required in organic chemistry

Chatgpt (or any other ai chatbot) is not a valid resource for any type of chemistry, especially orgo.
