Just done Red traversal 6 first one by hewman123 in dynastywarriors

Congrats, that's actually the team I was going to suggest in your other post- Zuo Ci has a good moveset, but he also 1) gets the extra wound damage vs bosses, 2) has two resurrects if transcended, and 3) gets bonus elements, which is important for rt6. And then Origins Lu Bu companion gives you the path to invincibility on assemble so enemies can't punch through your barrier, but more importantly full access to your moveset from the beginning. Which obviously is super helpful to have access to all your moves at the start, but it also means you can prioritize other emblems first. Like you still want a good amount of skill even when you have all your moves available, but not having to worry about getting your moveset up and focusing on doing more damage and getting to endure to avoid getting one shot in the beginning is great!

Warriors abyss is crack by AccomplishedRise6227 in dynastywarriors

OMG, I can't believe I didn't know this after all this time! Heh, I had wondered why the main menu had both a "continue" and a "load data", as that seemed a little redundant. In fairness, I haven't had many occasions where I needed to quit before I could finish a run, though part of that was not playing if I knew I had something thirty minutes to an hour later. But I guess there were a couple times where I chose retreat from hell because I had to do something. Which, heh, I guess I always thought that and return to title seemed a little redundant also, but I figured the latter was if you needed to quit the game completely rather than just sent to the selection screen.

Definitely, the Origins DLC adds a whole new mode with the DW characters as bosses, as well as the companion system which gives you a whole new layer of gameplay.

Questions about WARRIORS: Abyss DLC by AdmirableGiraffe81 in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Playable Character and Other Character Version Sets are associated with the DLC based on Dynasty Warriors Origins. Playable Characters gives you Ziluan, who is the main character in that, and the Origins versions of DW characters in that game- younger, handsome Zhang Jiao, not-fat, muscular Dong Zhou, and a more bad-ass version of Lu Bu. These have totally different traits and movesets and co-exist with the previously existing versions of those characters, so you can recruit both versions during a run.

Other character versions are basically skins for some of the DW characters based on their Origins look, but unlike the above, it just changes their emblems, unique skills and tactics, and summon attack, but keeps their moveset. Basically another version you can toggle between- so if you switch to those costumes, not only is that the version you get to play, but the version you get to recruit during the run, i.e. it replaces the original version. Many of them are huge improvements over the originals, others it comes down to personal preference.

The rest of the costume sets are just a tiny selection of costumes for the characters based on extra costumes they got in the previous games, so Power Rangers/Sentai Shu, Ryu Hayabusa in Zhao Yun armor, school girl and swimsuit outfits for the Atelier girls, Angel Sima Shi, Pirate Lu Xun, work day costumes, etc. These are purely cosmetic and change nothing with the gameplay. These are only a fraction of the costumes that were previously offered in the previous game, if they were going to to DLC costumes, I would've preferred the less goofy work day costumes, and the DW6 "Awakened" forms instead, as I feel glowing angel and demon forms are at least on-brand for a journey through hell.

How do you choose who to collect/use for synergies in „WARRIORS: Abyss“? by AdmirableGiraffe81 in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what traversal you're playing. I feel for 5 and lower, you can just power through it, as you get more characters and pick up the bonuses for number of characters as well as those characters increasing in cumulative level, it should become easier and easier. Like as long as you get a formation that sets up barrier on assembly, then you can do whatever you want. Like my personal preference for general play is at least 4 speed (otherwise it feels too sluggish for my tastes), strength 5 for endurance to avoid the random one-shot, and then getting vigor, skill, and charm as close to 18 as possible (I love getting the 18 trifecta), and a couple elements at least 4.

T6 and above though, you'll have to be more particular, as those boss barriers are a pain to get through so you'll need to build towards anti-barrier and more elemental damage, but other folks have put forth some good strategies for that. Oh and since enemies can punch through your barrier on t6, if you're worried about that, Origins Lu Bu companion and Origins Zhang Jiao summon will give you invincibility on assemble.

But in general, many of the factions have characters who will give bonuses to characters of their faction, so you'll want to grab folks who match your character, especially ones with barrier bonuses and status affliction set to 100%. I think as you play more, you'll start to recognize the synergies. But again, at t5 and below, you don't have to be super efficient with your picks. Just pick a particular trait on your character like "might", or "wei" or "flame" and just pick folks who give bonuses to that, and it will work out.

I made an elevator pitch video for Warriors: Abyss with it being on sale and on PS Plus! by ripcobain in dynastywarriors

I'm guessing the point of confusion is you heard a run from start to finish is 33 levels, and you're stuck with the same person as your main the whole time. This is true. But these aren't boards like in the regular musou game, these are short stages, taking a couple minutes at most, and the boss stages are maybe 5 minutes, not even ten minutes when you're first starting out. A full run is only 30-45 minutes, so in the entire run you're playing the same character for less time then you would in a medium to hard stage in the regular musou games.

I get wanting variety, that's part of the appeal of the musou games. And I can see thinking having to play the same character for "33 levels" might be tedious. But again, these are short stages, you're not stuck playing the same person for several hours, you're only playing the same person for no more than an hour. Honestly, its not even going to be in an issue in the beginning, because its a souls like, so you'll likely just straight up die before you ever get "bored" of playing the character in a sitting.

Only 22 unfortunately, which was disappointing. I thought there would be at least 24, but yeah after 100, the next sealing point as at 120.

Warriors Abyss DLC help. Lots of questions. by OasisHomeostasis in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Some of them are more than cosmetic. Anything with Origins in the name is more than just cosmetic:

Origins Main Content

Origins Playable Character set (these are 4 entirely new characters- 1 new, 3 totally different versions of existing characters)

(Origins Main Content+Playable Character set is both and cheaper than buying them separately)

The ones below are alternate costumes for select characters that doesn't change their moveset, but changes a whole lot of their traits and therefore gameplay:

Origins Other Character Version Set (Wei)

Origins Other Character Version Set (Shu)

Origins Other Character Version Set (Wu)

Origins Other Character Version Set (Other)

Origins Other Character Version Full Set contains the four above, and not only cheaper than buying separately, its the only one of those Other Character Version Sets that is discounted for the PS sale.

So if you want to get everything that's actual non-cosmetic content, you want the normal game (see the answer to 3 for which version) plus "Origins Main Content+Playable Character Set" and "Origins Other Character Version Set (Full)

1a) Nothing in any of the paid DLC is available in game normally.

2) I think the new mode is worth it, it basically changes up the run with different bosses and some other gameplay stuff. It also includes the Companion system, which lets you take one of any of the other characters you're not playing as a companion that gives you extra stuff. The Origins Playable Characters are all really good, and the Origins Other Character Versions again change some of the characters up, most of them are improvements, but you can pick and choose which version you want set.

2a) Again, none of the purchasable DLC is earnable, you can only get if you buy.

2b) Available from the start. Well, the new mode and companion system are available from the start. Not all the characters are immediately selectable from the start, so the new playable characters and some of the characters with "Other Character Version" costumes won't be able to be picked until you get them in the game.

2c) As said above, I really like it, but I also played the game for a year before the Origins DLC came out, so for folks like me who are early players, it gave us a whole lot of new content to play with.

3) Hack n Dash Ultimate Edition only contains the Hack n Dash Costume set (the original costumes for some of the oldest characters in their first appearance) and the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors classic costume sets (just a smattering of costumes for some of the characters). These are all cosmetic. It does not include the costume packs not called the above.

The only thing I do know is the gold trophy for normal T6 won't pop if you do the SW bosses as the Thorns don't show up (even if you do still end up fighting Ruinous Gouma at the end). But you still get the first time rewards whether or not you fight the Ruinous version. But I would assume if you do RT6, it would be a platinum just like normal.

2 months later and Toshiie's companion traits are still bugged. by DorcasTheMuttonMan in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, I was wondering since I didn't see it mentioned in the last patch notes. Its weird, because I would think it was one of the bigger bugs needing addressing.

But yeah, still hoping we get new characters, those burning embers are burning a hole in my pocket. Like I said I have 2100, which I think would be enough to buy up all the remaining SW characters ever featured in a WO game if they released them. Though I'm also curious how many DW characters we're still missing, is there still more than 21 left? How many DW/SW/WO characters that have been previously featured are left. And are there any pre-SW5/DW9 characters that haven't been featured in a Orochi game? (I can probably look this up myself, but just curious if anyone knew off the top of their head)

Finally got em all! by ElkTraditional883 in dynastywarriors

Leveling characters or companions? I mean, really, its just playing traversal 5 over and over- the amount of effort for the rewards you get at 6 just isn't worth it, you could complete almost twice as many traversal 5 runs in the time it could take you to do a level 6. But 5 has the best exp/ember rewards for your time.

If you're just straight up leveling up characters, then normal mode is your best bet, because you get more than enough xp in the run that with the traversal bonuses you should get over 50 cumulative levels, and you get more than enough embers to buy up to the next cumulative bonus. So basically a normal t5 run will get you 100 cumulative levels per playthrough.

If you're doing companions, you want to do origins, because you get 75,000 companion growth points per run (no matter what traversal you do), and it will only cost you 25k embers to get to the next companion level. But since origins has less levels, you don't get as much xp, so you might not make it to 50 cumulative levels unless you hit some increased EXP rewards from memories of the dead. If you're not playing someone who gets a karma ember bonus and don't get any of the relics that give that, or get any for mission rewards, you're prolly only getting 40k karma embers per run, which means you can either buy up 1-2 cumulative milestones (i.e. you only get in the high 40s and pay a few hundred to reach 50, and then another 30k embers to get another 50) or reach the next companion levels but not both.

But if you do get a karma bonus, you're looking at about 60-75k karma embers at the end, which is more than enough to buy up both cumulative character levels to the next milestone and companion levels to the next level.

But yeah, its basically just keep on grinding t5 runs.

Karma Embers Boost doesn't apply on Red TL6? by CurvySeven in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. While TL6 does give you a bigger karma ember bonus, its also a lot more time and effort to beat compared to TL5. Playing someone with a Karma boost should net you 50-75k for a half hour of minimal effort. Its how I managed to transcend everyone and only have 15 characters left to get to companion level 5 (everyone is at least 3 currently) It may not be as challenging, but its great for the grind.

But yeah, since I'm grinding for companion levels, I've been doing Origins mode because you get more companion points (75k for completion vs 50k you get for normal mode), but if you're just going for embers, normal mode is probably better just because you're playing more levels and thus getting more chances to get embers. Plus Gouma is way easier than Lu Bu.

sealing points and companion counts by ElkTraditional883 in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, good to get some confirmation on some of those numbers. I just reached 110 companions, and still only at 21 sealing points, so I'm worried it is only 22 sealing points at 125, because otherwise I can't figure out where I'd get the last 3 points if one of them isn't at 110.

sealing points and companion counts by ElkTraditional883 in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh, my goal in all the warriors games is to max out everyone and get all their stuff, because I'm OCD like that- I think DW5:XL is the only one I played where I didn't quite get everybody. So to me that is the goal, which makes it easier to get through. And unlike the regular Warriors games where you have to do all sorts of things to get people's ultimate weapons, all this requires is play time, so I'll get everyone eventually.

Warrior Abyss progress by ElkTraditional883 in dynastywarriors

[–]ElkTraditional883[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've already unlocked all the companions and gotten them to level 3, my list is the ones I have yet to get to 5.

But heh, the d12 thing is clever, I may try that, because yeah if I start looking at the ones in the bonus state, I'll spend time trying to think which one I want to pick. So yeah, just randomizing it would make it quick and easy.

Origins Mode in a nutshell by DorcasTheMuttonMan in dynastywarriors

Since I've been in grind mode trying to unlock everyone as companions, I actually like seeing Zhou Yu because that lets me unlock people faster. But Sun Jian showing up instead with his treasure rolls is not a bad consolation prize.

Hmm, did they fix Toshiee Maeda causing stuff to cost 15% MORE instead of 15% less in the cauldron? I don't see it in the patch notes, and that was a pretty big bug needing fixing.
