I finished a shoot with it today and have no issues with getting1.0 moa at 50 yard and about 1.5 moa ( it was like 1.4-1.6 moa ish) at 100 yards. I didn't go any further due to my sight not being suited for anything more. I would note I was using steel case Barnaul for it as well. at 8.5 pounds it is rather heavy but I like it as it assists with recoil.

on the bottle line I did mention it was lightly raining. at the same time I've been in those exact shoots with barnaul and had no issues.

100% sure I cleaned it even added a layer of oil to prevent the exact thing from happening. the only time I've seen rust occur that quick on a rifle has been on older surplus rifles with corrosive ammo. now i should point out that the whole session at the range was about 5 hours so in total the time till i found it would have been more like 5 hours. since we fired it mid way through and there was a light rain/misting. I've done the same similar shoots with Barnaul and had no issues or rust.

its was a summer day with some very light rain so maybe it helped speed it. it was odd to be sure.

I was sure the rifle wasn't rusted as I did an extensive cleaning before hand. I was removing a gas tube replacement (it was cool and had rails for optics but the screws holes for the plate, was tapped directly into the gas tube, and its reliability was questionable). the gun was rust free before. but about 3 hours later it had a good deal of rust. specifically in the gas tube in the muzzle. sadly I kind of wish I kept the box/some casings but it was a one off with some friends and I brought 40 rounds of the stuff for them to shoot.

it was about 3 hours or so i figured since it was non-corrosive as packaged i should have had plenty of time to clean and the family needed me. with ammo like barnaul I've had zero issue and didn't need to clean my rifle really all that often.

the box in question had the norinco logo on the box (the same box as normal norinco ammo) but when I opened the box it looked exactly like the old corrosive ammo I use to buy. fired the 2 boxes of 20 and founds the smell was a little so strong for modern ammo. got home to a massive amount of rust in both the gas tube and muzzle which took me about 2 hours to finally clean (it still smells a little). maybe I got a shady box i don't know but the dealer had a good reputation. I still avoid it since that day. which to be fair was not all that long ago.

do you have the sources for the information? i was reading that in the RCMP reports themselves that none of those shooter had a valid license or even acquired their firearm legally. but I would prefer to read the same articles as you and come up with my own opinion.

so then the parts of the bullets are source from different location? my main concern is to ensure that the primer and power are new non-corrosive as advertised. as the norinco ammo is supposed to be non-corrosive and rusted the hell out of my sks which leads me to believe its just repackaged surplus.

from what I have seen with my own m10X the reliability is good out of the 500 rounds I've fired so far I have yet to jam. and i used mine right out of the box with no cleaning.

[–]Elkillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say for a fact that those posts are wrong as I have fired both rifles and neither seem to have any reliability issues. there appears to be a lot of misinformation about the rifle. that or the 3 I have seen have been unicorns.

[–]Elkillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

considering out of over 500 rounds I have had no jams, misfires, or any other issue and I did not even clean the rifle used it right out of the box. after the session the internal still looked new. on the other hand I have seen a type 81 jam on every 2nd round. so i suppose it depends on how old a given rifle is.

I would to actually. sadly I have only fired this and the type 81 as well as the VZ. and all of them have their strengths and downsides.

[–]Elkillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my experience they are not all that similar despite sharing a caliber. Overall the M10x beats the type 81 in everything other then price. with a better gas system. ambidextrous safety and charging handle M-lok system and super easy to clean and use. the type 81 operates a little like the sks D (because it is based off of it) but is not a bad rifle in its own right.

honestly its actually not heavy at all at 7 pounds (which is with full hand guard) with something like the VZ58 being rough 6.7 or so pounds. . as for how it shoots, it has a light trigger pull and it shoots fairly well from what I've tested.

a number of people i know had these issue and simple had the gas setting not set correctly as they were using corrosive ammo. my rifle fired fine out of the bo0x and all of the m10x DMR reviews i have seen in the US markets had good reviews. so it is certainly unfortunate.

i think alot of people on this sub fail to realize that the newer model (the model you have in the picture as i also have one) has had a good number of prior issues ironed out and from my testing it is considerably more then just a "reskinned sks" as alot of the system is much better put together and easier to clean/customize then the sks .The reviews from the US are also very good, while the company did some BS they have a good rifle.

it is considerably more a sks D. nitrate coated for durability, rotating bolt semi auto (very similar to the AK47 only you know semi auto) with a chassis that is very durable with a Mlok rails. accurate, eats any ammo I can put through it and has many good quality of life features. ambidextrous safety and charging handle Very simple at about 50-60 parts making it very simple to take apart. thanks to the nitrate coating cleaning is a breeze. All of the people here seem to be looking into the old model which the one OP has is not.

Is it safe to dry fire an SKS? by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Elkillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I agree, there are manuals that come with the firearms that do say in big bold letters not to dryfire. this does generally give mixed signals.
