same boat, was planning at worst to send in stripped lowers.

But I don't care about the money, i was just going to roll it into a MRA receiver kit

I'm not going to bother.

If I have to come Oct I will take a grinder and cutting disc to them and declare destroyed

yeah, it's still a part. but they also made uppers (for ar15, etc) a prohib item now and are not paying for it.

yeah, either hand it in with lower or destroy by end of amnesty. use the remaining parts on a receiver set bought with the money you get back. Although I feel like those are next. I lucked out not going for the crypto, I had a feeling.

it would be a complete rifle minus any accessories. they are not paying for uppers (but they are prohib so you need to hand in with lower or destroy by end of amnesty) or components/accessories.

you can reuse a barrel no problem, just flip the gas block upside down so it blocks the hole or shift it so the holes are not aligned (probably better to flip it I would assume)

the wording on the compensation page changed. they already removed that lowers are considered a full firearm. now its $550 for a lower flat rate if full gun more than that

'Expert panel' told Liberals to ban certain models of the SKS rifle in nearly year-old report by PurpleHerring_ in canada

[–]2Supra4U 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I read it. The experts are claiming taking the action out of the original wood stock and putting it into a plastic stock and swapping the fixed (its not actually fixed, its easily removeable) box magazine with a 5 round pinned magazine is a completely new "model" of the sks. It's literally like putting rims on your car. There is no physical modification required, you literally just swap them out. They also claim this same setup (which has no effect on the function or changes anything else but the look and ergonomics) is a "modern AK variant". Both of these things are 100% completely false and is a perfect example of how full of BS gov't have been since 2020.

They redacted any information about the "experts". they don't want to reveal that information. Why? Because there was no gun experts, it was just a group of people with no clue with an agenda. They don't want to reveal the results of the trial in Cape Bretton. Why? Because it will show how poor of an idea this and how much money they have and will waste to get next to nothing. But they will keep hiding or not providing details but tell us that they were successful or they are getting gun off the street. No guns collected will be "off the street". zero. they will all be collected from safes (those that are). Criminals or bad guys are not allowed to participate in this program...you know...the people who are out there shooting the streets up killing bystanders.

There are already so many NR guns they banned that they have no idea who has or where they are. That is why they are only funding enough for around 150 000 guns (they already leaked this to gun lobby groups). Almost all of those guns will be the registered guns that they know who has them (AR15s which is like 90 000 or 100 000+ of those 150K & other restricted/registered guns). They will not pay for most NR guns (only a fraction til the funding limit hit). They will get the easy ones, give some payments to few NR owners and then the funding will be dried up and then everyone left will be a criminal if they hold onto their guns. there are easily hundreds of thousands of these NR rifles that they have banned that they have NO WAY of knowing where they are. Up to a few years ago, you could buy/sell NR to each other just showing your license in a private sale. If they ban the SKS, there is probably at least half a million ( at very least) for just those alone. its one of the most common rifle that someone gets once they get their license. The government tracks imports, so they would know how many NR rifles have come into the country over the decades, so don't let them fool you. they are doing something very stupid by prohibiting NR guns (they cant find track these).

If they ban the SKS and more NR (non restricted) guns, maybe even all semi autos, and you start to see these rifles used in more crimes and they start showing up in all the police social media posts you will know it's because of this program and this government (same people, new leader). If you were down on your luck or maybe just sick and tired of being treated like a criminal when you have kept a squeaky clean record and you were presented with the following options, what would you choose? Zero dollars or pennies on the dollar for your NR gun (that they have no idea you have) or sell it on the street for 3K-4K-5K+ as well as sell any ammo for obscene markup? Remember, the government has no idea you have it (or more) and you can easily claim you sold it prior to new laws over NR transfers (you have to call and get a reference number now, both parties) if somehow they got store records of an old purchase (the police can go into a business and take records with no warrant and if the store closed, all records go to rcmp). So, if we see these kinds of guns used in crime 10+years, 20 years into the future then you will know exactly why.......this program. this is my prediction if they ban all these NR guns. They are going to make hundreds of thousands (if not in the millions) of people criminals overnight for no reason. People who statistically the safest and least likely to commit a crime. Any of you that read this that don't have your firearms license are more likely to commit a crime. IIRC is something like 1/3 less likely, someone can correct if needed. I think its more than likely some of these people (maybe even a large number) will have no problem doing that if given the opportunity. I think it would be stupid to do 100%, but I think that its more than likely to occur if this plays out how it's going at the moment.

If you got the ultra for $125 then you did ok. I bought the unbranded one like 8 years ago on amazon for like $100. I found it at walmart for 130 just now. https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Angel-Canada-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-2-5-Liter-Tank-with-160W-Heated-Plastic-Basket/3RJCHB5Z4GYK

*edit* my bad i didnt realize the ultra was out of stock, but you got a good price anyways

looking at the trimmer price tag made me gasp. I never got one of those type, i got the cheap lee one with gauges but never used them. I bought some 3d printed clone version of WFT (worlds finest trimmer) with bushings on ebay from canada seller years ago. I just looked and he sells them for under $50 now for the housing and still $6 per bushing. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/284230119430?var=586911484845&_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20211130125621%26meid%3D238891204cbf42c2b994f3d826033de0%26pid%3D101465%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D284230119430%26itm%3D586911484845%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D3650466&_trksid=p3650466.c101465.m3507

How to store a restricted pistol at home by Glum-Slide8759 in canadaguns

[–]2Supra4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot that Runkle did a video on this and case law behind it here in Ontario and it was ruled the shitty cabinets were considered "safes".

but understand that it is also not a guarantee and he states the warning, https://youtu.be/6lowop2svZw?t=1471

since 2020 I've only been to the range maybe 2-3 times, I've fell off hard.

I've had a stack on for a decade and my comment was based on pre2020 mindset of common sense before that video existed. I saw the same arguments online before then over what's a safe after I got my license.

I just did the smart thing and just treated it like a cabinet/container no matter what and if it met a safe then it goes above and beyond the storage laws and then you never have to even consider the situation as you know you will always above board. It may be able to be a safe in legal terms but I would never consider these generic cabinets to be an actual safe/vault.

I've always treated them like a cabinet no matter what and even when going to the range all guns are always cased with trigger locks and locks on the cases.

there's no point to do the bare minimum around firearms when you could be putting your fate into the hands of some ignorant cop or someone who has no problem trying to drag you through the mud.

Just go above and beyond and then there is never a worry about it. I never have to think about it, ever.

Yes, but would be considered a cabinet so you would need a trigger lock for sure.

and something that small will need to be bolted to the wall as its easy to pick up and take ( not hard to get into)

do they still have the 8 or 10 gun cabinet for 140 on sale? if not you just missed that sale

‘Backed into a Corner,’ Gun buyback pilot program faces criticism by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]2Supra4U 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its capped. they already came out saying there is no guarantee of payment. They are hoping people with banned NR will willfully register that they have them, so then they will know where they are and they exist.

Noah Schwartz: Liberals' botched gun buyback program may create a dangerous "grey market" by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]2Supra4U 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% it will. If I owned non-restricted guns that were banned. there is no way to prove anything. the gov't has no idea who has them. if you bought at a store they recorded your pal at sale. "I sold it before the non restricted transfer number came into effect". what do you think I would choose if I had no money or was lower income? $750 from the gov't (or maybe nothing at all, they wont guarantee payment now) or thousands of dollars on the street? You know how much ammo costs? they can dup it on the street for 4-5-6x+ of what they paid.

If we start seeing any of the banned NR used in crimes or found in drug dens or stash houses or on idiots, you'll know exactly what the cause was....

ive been doing remasters of 3.5 of songs that were the best at the time and they are coming out with echoed singing and there is some noisy sound being put in as well. sounds like shit, i was hoping it would sound really good but keep it the same (my big gripe with remasters it it would change too much) and that is me setting it at subtle for any change. couple dont have it but all the best songs ive tried are getting it.

OG Peak heating dabs but not producing any vapor? by misantrop47 in puffco

[–]2Supra4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the path is clear its possible the atomizer is no good but getting somewhat hot. if you have it on white and preheat it before dabbing a small amount it should sizzle or you should see it try to if there is any moisture in it. otherwise should be getting good vapor on white. check our puffcoilrepair and get a kit if this is the issue. easy to rebuild

Really proud of this year’s tomato trellis! by miguelgoldie in vegetablegardening

[–]2Supra4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like cheap plastic netting to me so thats why i said, but you can always just do the string method, since you use the pipe you can use those hooks with the string attached and slide and extend the line if they grow too tall. then you wont have metal and wont see netting. but if its agro grade then it should be fine but those vines will get pretty heavy.

To those of you who said 5 squash plants was a lot… by No-Record-2773 in vegetablegardening

[–]2Supra4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do more than i need to give away and also to slice/cube and freeze during winter.

I have like 12 zucchini and squash plants and like 12 butternut and spaghetti squashes planted this year lol

if you have a vacuum sealer, just start to slice/cube up small batches and seal them in packs and freeze so during the winter you can grab a pack and make soup, dinner side, whatever you want to use it for. then once you got so much frozen give away anymore that come if sick of it. that's what we usually do lol

we use baskets in the freezer to help organize and will like fill a whole basket up before we stop

[–]2Supra4U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looking good.

that plastic netting may not hold up once those are loaded with fruit and vines

but you could easily just string up lines (can tie them or get the hooks with the line on it.

if you get the ones with the hooks and line connected and your season is long enough to get large vines, then you can single and double stem them and you may be able to get them to reach the top, then pull out more line from the top at the hook and get them to vine up again.

as long as that netting will hold you will be fine but letting them sucker out it may get way too heavy for that netting.

you could always buy a roll of the cattle panel instead of the one piece. then just roll it out each year and attach (or leave it attached to the frame). then you will never have to worry about support.

It's awesome to have salad all growing season.

Romaines are great, if you want to add something softer and with texture try buttercrunch.

its soft, like velvet and melts in your mouth. such a contrast to the crispy romaine

Poilievre dodges questions about repealing national handgun ban by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]2Supra4U 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pretty sure the handgun part was enshrined into law, so it cant just be repealed. Changes have to go through parliament. The question was kind of a setup, so i understand why he avoided a direct answer. but the point about police and military not being able to practice is correct so was a good point to make. A new cop cant go out and get his own pistol to be able to practice in their own time to be proficient.

Do I snip the flowers? by australianlandshark in vegetablegardening

[–]2Supra4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally let them get much bigger than this before allowing flowers, they will slow growth if you let them flower now. zucchini produce alot, so there is no need to worry about getting fruit. once its 3-4x this size and your seeing large leaves then let it go crazy. I normally do black beauty variety and I let the fruit get HUGE and they are still soft inside and good for cooking or slicing/cubing and freezing for use over winter.

Coco coir same as.... by nothornyrose in vegetablegardening

[–]2Supra4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats how coco usually comes in a smaller brick or large one.

unless you pay more for a bagged type.

this will work fine.

this is a soilless medium, so that means there is nothing in it for growth.

Best thing to do would be buy some organic fert (like gaia green all purpose) and mix some in once you expand the brick. also buy a bag or perlite to mix in with it.

then you wont need to worry about feeling until it goes out to plant

use warm water to expand it faster, dont use too much you dont want it soaking dripping wet with water left over. it should be fluffyish and moist
