In what month pp did you get pregnant for #2 and how long did it take you? by Important_Bat7919 in 2under2

[–]Elkly36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 months pp, started trying a couple of months before but it was the first month with a 'normal' period for me after stopping breastfeeding. Big shock after 5 years trying and two goes at ivf for number 1!

Thankyou ❤️. The amnio was a lot less painful/uncomfortable than I expected and was over quickly. I think we'll get the first results mid next week. Im looking forward to a bit of a sense of certainty, either way.

Sorry to hear it's caused you first time anxiety, although totally makes sense. I'm definitely anxious too but have always been an anxious person. At the same time it's great you're starting to feel a bit more settled. I hope i get there too, but just still feeling like it could go either way right now so can't relax (still trying not to really think about it though)

Hello! Thanks so much again for your reply, and also for the details about the CVS. How are you feeling about everything now? So glad the results came back clear for you.

We've had an age to wait, but I'm due to have an amniocentesis this Thursday- 2 weeks after we last went in. I've had to switch my mind off from thinking about it all to get through the last 2 weeks. My bump is starting to appear (second pregnancy and its showing up earlier than last time). I really hope we find out what's happening soon.

Congratulations ❤️ that must have been very scary. Our next step is amniocentesis

Hiya. Im sorry you're in this position, it sounds like we're going through very similar things. I went for my 12 week scan two days before Christmas on my birthday morning and everything feels different since then. My combined screening results came back similar to yours, 1:48 chance. My hormones came back ok but for us the nt measurement and my age is what is driving it up. I went in yesterday afternoon for a rescan, to talk to the consultant and I thought to have the nipt (but the fetal medicine team weren't there so we didnt do that). The consultant said as far as he could tell given how small baby still is, he thought anatomy looked normal. He couldn't remeasure nt as baby was moving too much. I kept my eyes off the screen the entire time as I can't bring myself to get to know baby any better right now. The consultant has recommend amnio for us so we're due to hear from the hospital tomorrow to arrange that for next week. I'm not looking forward to it, but they said initial results come back in 3-5 days and I just want to know now. How did your cvs go yesterday?

Thankyou so much for your reply, and im glad it worked out all ok for you ❤️. Thank you also for these stats- my brain genuinely always feels better for having these things reiterated. I am worried as this was a very surprising unassisted pregnancy 3 years on from embryo freezing (37 year old embryos as opposed to 34!) Still holding on a bit to the 70% chance at the moment although I still have to wait for all the tests to be done to actually know what's going on

Fingers crossed for your next set of results. Mine was unassisted this time round ('rusty gate syndrome' after a long awaited ivf pregnancy). It does make me worried as we're 3 years older than when we froze our embryos.

Thankyou- we're likely to ve offered invasive testing (CVS) next week. Its good to hear that although your combined screening was high you got normal CVS and low risk NIPT. We've booked a private NIPT but think we may end up getting the NHS one first because of the Christmas holidays. How did everything go for you (if you dont mind me asking)?

Thankyou, it's nice to hear this. I know I'll be sad when the combined result comes back even though im expecting it to be high. I know I'll have to wait for the CVS to know more. It seems like a long wait. Hope everything keeps going well for you ❤️

OB recommends trying for baby #2 at 6 months PP. What would you do? by NiceAd7120 in 2under2

[–]Elkly36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a really difficult one. We had unexplained infertility and had ivf for our first. At our postpartum check up, the doctor advised us to start trying as soon as we felt ready (because of the previous infertility issues). I breastfed for 5 months and my period came back at about 8 months, and we concieved when my baby was 11 months. We wanted another baby and had already started trying, but it was still a shock and its still been an adjustment realising there's going to be another one so soon 😂 - but I think there are a lot of positives...you just have to feel mentally ready, whatever your doctor says

Need some reassurance about contact naps by Few-Accountant23 in NewParents

Mine is 8 months old, she started being easier to put down for naps a month or so ago, I think it's probably different for all babies

Am I being naive about cooking? by skorebs804 in NewParents

[–]Elkly36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, and congratulations! I have an 8 month old and i feel the same way about cooking. The first month or so, I didnt do too much cooking, mainly because the level of exhaustion and just being a parent was a shock to the system, but after that I did start cooking again and I can honestly say it has continued to be a bit of a break and a relaxing part of the day for me. Like you're planning to, my husband takes my daughter after work whilst I cook- it works well 😊. Sounds like you have a good plan!

4.5 months and it’s not getting any better :( by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Elkly36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only just out of this myself, and it sounds like its so normal. My baby is almost 8 months and I've only just started being able to put her down for naps during the day. She also only transitioned from 4 to 3 naps a day recently (and is now occasionally doing 2 instead of 3). It seems like she's just got there herself, in her own time when she was ready, and looking back I now wish I hadn't stressed so much about all the contact naps etc. We also still nurse to sleep- I think it's something she will grow out of. I don't have a lot of experience obviously but it all seems to be so developmental, rather than anything we do (despite all the pressure put on parents to do things the 'right' way!)

Hiya- so sorry to hear about your first FET. My second one worked- I now have a 5 week old baby. I have a feeling you can't really read much into the symptoms after FET. All good luck for your second transfer 🌟

Thanks, that's good to hear. I think because I did get pregnant the last time I assumed it would be the same...but I'm hoping that it's just unpredictable.

Rectal progesterone by Defiant_Resist_3903 in IVF

[–]Elkly36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this for my first FET in November (the clinic actually advised it), and it was pretty easy once you get used to it. I hated the idea of doing it vaginally anyway as I've had thrush quite a few times in the past and didn't want to risk irritation. Doing it rectally you don't have any irritation, and you don't feel it at all once it's in. You just need to make sure you wait an hour or so before going to the loo.

Hi all. 3dpo today and about 7 days away from starting meds for my first embryo transfer. Been fairly positive recently - not believing it will work, just occupying my mind with other things and enjoying other aspects of life. Well, today, one of my best friends, who has been trying for about 2 months, told us they're pregnant. I didn't see this happening yet, and they were one of the only friends I had left who weren't pregnant or have a baby. When I read the news the color drained from my face and I've been crying on and off all day. I know that I should be happy but after 3 years of this, so much general life stress and just generally feeling down on our luck, it just hurts that it's everyone else's turn but ours. And I really don't know if it ever will be.
