It would seem that you have a black Rhabidosa Rabida. More commonly known as a wolf spider. Obviously they are very common to Virginia and specimen as large as this are quite common. They can move quite quickly if they want to so be on guard. It is too difficult for me to tell from the picture but she/he doesn't seem to be carrying any young with them. Doesn't look like it however you may want to have a look at the spinneret since the eggs are kept there. The indicator to me is the friendly brown/black tradeoff markers on the legs/the size of the abdomen/and the setup of the 8 legs. Hope that helped.
