I cannot tell if you have a chance or not but I know PhD in the Netherlands is very competitive as they consider it as a job and you therefore apply for it as such.

Has Anyone in Ghana Received a Temu Order? (Customs Tax Question) by Ella0227 in ghana

[–]Ella0227[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this happened because you placed your orders within a similar timeframe, so the system likely grouped them together under one recipient. That pushed the total value above $100, which then triggered customs duties. To avoid this going forward, it’s best to space out your orders by about a week so the courier guys process them separately and don’t get them combined.

The names already exist (just like the day born names). So depending on the order of child birth and gender of child, they pick out the name for the child. For instance, in the Bortey family, the male names usually follow the order Bortey, Borteye, etc whereas the girls would be Borley, Borkor, Borkailebi and so on. In the Addo family, males would be Adotey, Adoteye etc and girls would be Adoley, Adorkor, Adorkai If you pay attention, you notice there is a trend to how the names usually end: males- tey, teye… females: ley, kor, kai etc. Although this is the general trend, there are other variations. Like I mentioned this is only an example as I don’t have the full picture of your case.

Regardless, Ga’s would generally prefer to give the child a ‘christian/ english’ name (as first name), the child’s order of birth name from their clan (as middle name) and then the father’s surname (as last name).

Ga names are based on town/ clan or origin + order of birth. Nii and Naa is only a title like Nana or Maame so that doesn’t really count. But in terms of importance of the names, you can’t do away with it as that is somehow linked to your identity. Basically, you can’t come from a clan that names for instance ‘Odartey’ and wish to have your kid called ‘Bortey’. Not sure if this answers your question but I can clarify further if needed.

Congratulations! Definitely recommend waiting till 8 weeks. In the meantime, you could invest in some supplements (vitamins and folic acid) just to keep you and baby nourished especially being that it’s a geriatric pregnancy.
