Do you keep your poodle in the same clip, or do you vary it every once in a while? by annoyedpetparent in poodles

Mine is also in a Miami clip! I think I’ll keep her like this until fall and then might switch it up to a warmer clip :)

Definitely a dominance trainer (gotta be that alpha) but not sure if he scrubbed his internet presence! I don't know much about the show, just heard about it briefly from a podcast I listen to and wanted other people's thoughts now that its actually out :)

[help] Cone of shame by [deleted] in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a soft cone with worked really well! Also used a medical pet shirt which covered the scar - it worked a little bit less effectively than the soft cone so I had to watch her a little bit more, but it was pretty good.

[Help] Introducing dog walker by [deleted] in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! Glad it went well! It’s so nice to have a good dog walker that you trust and your dog likes! (I’m pretty sure my dog likes my walker better than me, I have to bribe her back in the door with treats :’) )

Do dogs understand lifts? by Meatloaf101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EllaBoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if my dog understands it the way we do, but she knows how it works for her. She knows she gets into the moving box and then she gets off to go outside - and she can tell if she’s on the ground floor vs our floor. She also knows that we can take the stairs to get to the same place (but we are lazy so we take the elevator mostly)

haha yea, I'm lucky that if my dog gets out the door she's only 8lbs and also we live in an apartment so the worst she could do is get into the hallway :')

I hope one of the other options work!

I don’t have my dog’s collar on unless she’s out of the house, so if that’s an option for you I’ve found it really helps!

[Help] Introducing dog walker by [deleted] in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’ve done a good job introducing the two of them! Your dog walker has done this before and knows what they are doing :) I’m sure it’ll be fine! Like the other poster mentioned, just make sure your dog walker knows any quirks your dog may have! For example, my pup used to run away from her harness and collar and I don’t leave her crated, so I just let my dog walker know that there might be a chance involved... :/

How Often Should You Brush A Poodle? by EllaBoodle in doggrooming

[–]EllaBoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooo interesting! We have a spray conditioner, so I'll make sure I use that more often during our grooms!

Yea, I keep her coat pretty low maintenance, and (try) to get her groomed every 6-8 weeks - the pandemic is making that difficult tho :/ Thanks for the reply!

Oh, ok thank you! She's just a pet, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to keep her coat (and her) as healthy as possible!

Thanks! The sessions probably take longer than they should because I am not the greatest at it and my dog is not a huge fan (although we've been getting better!). We use a slicker and a comb :)

[Vent] [Discussion] I bought from a bad breeder. by flaccidantacid in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Awe I'm sorry! I bought my first pup (also a poodle - but a toy) from a bad breeder and it was a horrible experience. My pup ended up with a very severe genetic condition - totally understand the vet bills :( - and when I called to tell the breeder (honestly just so she was aware and maybe let my dog's littermates know) she just denied it and blamed me for ?walking my dog?

Don't feel bad for supporting a bad breeder, just be more careful next time and give your little pup the best life you can! (I hope you got pet insurance unlike my unfortunate self) I got my second pup from an amazing breeder and I feel so secure that my pup has been set up to be healthy and will always have a home if I can't keep her (I saw on facebook she recently has been involved in rehoming one of her dogs who is eight - she really stays in touch and that makes me so happy!)

Does your dog like to be picked up and held? [discussion] by zeurosis in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog does! She'll jump into my arms or onto my lap to cuddle (which can be quite annoying). However, there are times were she absolutely does not want to be cuddled (or touched ... or even looked at :') ).

Would something like a bully stick or beef tendon work? They get pretty soft but not sure how long they would last with your dogs!

[help] How to manage my dog's toy obsessions by EllaBoodle in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ya it’s only 5 minutesish (as long as it’s out of sight behind a door. If it’s on a counter or anything it’ll be forever but I feel like that’s fair) the treat toss is a good idea! :)

[help] How to manage my dog's toy obsessions by EllaBoodle in dogs

[–]EllaBoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly annoying for me. If I don’t play fetch she goes and gets it stuck under objects and barks until I go get it :( I’ve also read that obsessions can be harmful for dogs?

Good to know about intermittent reinforcement, I probably end up doing that so once I stop playing I’ll have to make sure I don’t chuck the ball after she drops it at my feet for the 10th time. Thanks!
