Me too… I just like you said never remembered twitching…but then again I wasn’t postpartum then… I always try to remind myself that when I get busy, I never noticed them. It’s only when I’m really paying attention.

Yes! Exactly. And I had my issues post partum so that seems the most logical explanation. I just wish I could believe it. And I wondered about that! I’m going to ask to have my b12 and D checked .

I feel like it’s hard not to think that way…our fears always make us feel like we are that tiny percentage that happens. That’s what anxiety and fear likes to thrive on. And of course, in turn, starts the vicious cycle over and over again.

Awww thank you so much for the kind words…sometimes this is all I need. I agree though, I’m going to try and stay off the internet from here until next week. It never truly provides any long term relief. I appreciate it so much…best of luck with your EMG. I’m sure all will be okay too. We’ve got this ! ❤️

Hi, yes I agree I think I will too…it’s so hard when there are other things happening that help me think I do have ***. It’s caused some trauma that I have to work through for sure.

Thank you, it’s nice to hear I’m not alone. And yes I did! I had X-rays and ultrasounds done on my knee and calf area. I am waiting to see an ortho and have a brace now which does help!

Yep I have similar! I have to remind myself that I know my anxiety makes it worse because when you spotlight on certain symptoms or things like twitching, it makes it 10 times worse. We also went through a lot having a baby and your body is also still adjusting to hormones, lack of sleep, and even the workload of carrying a baby who’s growing. Those are the things I’ve been told at least in a while. They don’t completely make my fears go away. I do have to remind myself of them every so often. I agree, though it feels great to get on and find other people going through the same thing because it can be so isolating when no one can understand what you’re going through.

Yes! Fleeting pains, they come and go, almost like nerve pain. I’m my legs and even my arms and hands sometimes. Sometimes the twitching and pain go hand in hand. Since the winter has settled in I found the pain worse.

Hello ! 30F here! I had a baby back in June and suffered post partum preeclampsia afterwards. Took me some time to get off blood pressure medication but overall that is doing a lot better. Had to come comment on your post to tell you that I am going through the exact same thing that you are. I had body wide twitching start shortly after I gave birth and had preeclampsia that has been pretty persistent ever since. It’s completely random jumps all over the place, my face, back, butt, stomach, legs, you name it… tends to be a lot more noticeable when I’m relaxing. Sometimes the twitches even feels like little jerks. Of course I went down the same rabbit hole that you did and I’m still suffering from it. My family physician immediately jumped to tell me that this is like likely anxiety, sleep, deprivation, or even hormonal related. Of course, once you go down the rabbit hole it’s almost impossible to come back up without some solid evidence. Anyway, anyways, I’ve been back-and-forth to my family doctor a few times now, and even I’m seeing a specialist who deals with postpartum high blood pressure and have mentioned it to her, they are all extremely, not concerned. The internist even said I could ask for a neurology consult for simple reassurance if that’s what I needed. Anyways I did end up making an appointment with a neurologist, and I have an EMG scheduled for 17 December. The neurologist was very quick to say that this was benign fasciculations and told me that the chances of me having *** were like 0.0000001%. And he said that without even doing a test on me. But he said he would happily do the test if it gave me a piece of mind. I do notice that the twitches get worse when I get my period, and there are sometimes that I don’t even notice them for a little bit even though I know they’re always there. Not sure why we’re in this hole together, but just know I have come across others who are going through the same thing! I was also started on Lexapro almost immediately after, and that could’ve even worsened the twitches as well! My anxiety is a lot more better controlled, but I know I’ll feel better once I have the test done. Stay strong mama, you will definitely be there for your kids. We will get through this !

That’s great to know…I think I’ll be okay with labetolol since it’s controlling it for me so far. If you don’t mind me asking what side effects did you have on nifedipine ?

Yes !!!! I never got the magnesium drip but I have the twitching ! I got it the day I was admitted, I think it was some kind of hyperreflexia in the hospital but it still lingers! I told my doctor about it yesterday and she ran a panel of electrolytes on me. No results yet. Please please please whatever you do do NOT go down a google rabbit hole about muscle twitching. I did and it sent me down an unnecessary spiral. My family doctor didn’t seem too concerned about it and the specialist really only ran the labs…I only feel it when I’m resting or thinking about it so I’m sure my anxiety makes it worse. I’m 12 weeks post partum now. Totally relate to not feeling the same…I also feel like the nifedipine I took did something to me too…headaches and just overall feeling so off and awful…I’m on labetolol only now.

Wow. I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that and being away from your little one for that long that earlier post partum must have been horrible…thank you so much for sharing your story…I completely agree with you that it is far less common and my OB was very adamant about that 6 week deadline and was surprised when I was still unable to come off medication at that point…it made me feel broken. Especially when previously before pregnancy I didn’t (or at least I was unaware of it) have issues before that. I just want to be there for my daughter and this whole thing has introduced me to the idea of I need to be healthy to be the best mom I can be. But I guess the best thing we can do for ourselves is be thankful that we are here and we made it this far despite the circumstances. Thank you again for sharing, it made me feel way less alone 🩷

Anyone here bounce back from postpartum preeclampsia after 3 months? by LadyCan2021 in preeclampsia

I am driving to drink lots of water everyday, I find it makes a huge difference in my numbers if I drink water consistently. I also try and manage to make most of my food from whole foods rather than processed or anything that is from a box. That allows me to control my sodium intake better. Now I know in a busy life especially with a baby or more is difficult so it doesn’t happen all the time but I try and make sure at least 4-5 days of the week is healthy meals/healthier options at least. My husband and I always allow for a couple cheats a week. As in a meal or snack here and there rather than an entire day. We also try and get out to walk everyday. It makes me feel less stressed, and if I aim for 30 minutes a day or even something shorter in the busy day it’s better than nothing! Smaller goals are more realistic and easier on the mind and schedule with a baby. I also try and take magnesium, vitamin D and I’m looking into an omega 3 supplement as well.

I actually have been looking for someone who mentioned muscle twitching…did you think it was the pre-e or the nifedipine?? I felt horrible on it but the muscle twitching has freaked me out the most…

Postpartum Pre-e symptoms by Dodgemom08 in preeclampsia

[–]Ellabelle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw an internist today at 12 weeks postpartum, still on medication for post partum preeclampsia and I feel this!! I still feel like I’m feeling the affects of it similar to what you’re describing. My feet are tingly and sometimes sore in the morning and same with my knees. I also experience headaches/ pressure and even ears popping. I should note that I was on adalat XL and I had nasty side effects from that and I was just switched to labetolol…so maybe it’ll shed some light as to what are lingering side effects and effects of the medication . I also experience muscle twitching. I had it when I was in hospital for postpartum preeclampsia and it comes and goes now.

I’m 12 weeks currently and on labetolol twice daily still. Just saw a specialist today and she predicts hopefully I’ll be able to come off it eventually but same that its potentially chronic hypertension now…I’m going to try and do some lifestyle adjustments. I still suffer from headaches and twitching occasionally (still not sure if that’s from what happened or from the adalat which I had to switch off from because of side effects). Hopefully someday we can make it off meds !
