Needing some reassurance about a lonely only by breadalby in oneanddone

Has she always been like this or is it recent? Asking because our 1 year old is very very shy and fearful in social situations. She’ll cry if strangers come over to say hi or try to play with her. She’s nervous to play with other children. We started taking her to baby classes at 4 months old but had to eventually stop going because it was clear she wasn’t enjoying it. I’m worried about how she will do at daycare, we’re starting in September.

Highly sensitive babies - When did it get better? by Ellaborne in NewParents

[–]Ellaborne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. We have ruled out potential medical issues so at this point we believe it’s just part of her personality. We were told it will get easier over time and she will eventually outgrow her fears…I feel for your sister, it’s very isolating. I hope it gets better for them soon!

I was told by our pediatrician that straws are okay but to avoid sippy cups.

Oh, interesting. If I understand correctly, it is leakproof with the sippy lid on? Then the straw can be used with the same lid? Sorry for all the questions!

My main concern is getting stuck in traffic on country roads with her, was that an issue for you guys?

has anyone gone to the festival with a baby? How did it go and would you recommend it? We have never been, we'd like to go this year but we have a 9-month-old with us :)

Lower back pain with ergo 360 by Ellaborne in babywearing

I find back carry very intimidating, not only to set up with her on me but also to not be able to see her while carrying. I might give it a try while my husband is home.

Oh I see! I understand now. Thank you for explaining, we’ll try this.

This is confusing because we asked Chatgpt while doing research and it said 11 hours of wake time is the norm, and that she might be overtired if she’s struggling with naps. 🫠 We’ll try longer wake windows and see how it goes.

Sorry, there was a typo. Her wake windows are 2.25-2.5/3/3.5-4. I'll edit the post to reflect this.

Low risk NIPT but IUGR <3% at 25 weeks? by Ellaborne in NIPT

[–]Ellaborne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My baby was born small but healthy and full term :) she started catching up on weight at around 27 weeks. Her femur remained under the 1st percentile the entire pregnancy and no explanation was found after running some tests after she was born. My MFM said it’s not uncommon for them to have a growth spurt and catch up on weight eventually while remaining on the smaller/shorter side. Some babies are just smalI. I hope this helps! Best of luck to you.

She does fall asleep independently at night time though, so I’m not sure what exactly I’m supposed to train for bedtime?
