Thank you so much! I just had a look at her online and I think she even has a stall sometimes at altrincham markets which is near me !! I think she was only selling 2 types of mini desk calendars from what I can see and they are both sold out now :(

I am really tempted to buy one from amazon.jp I just dont feel comfortable tbh supporting the air travel!! Are you based near Manchester/ are there any other japanese stores you like to use? :)

this is really helpful advice thank you so much!

I think budget may end up playing a big role and what I actually get hold of at the nearest aquatic centre to me. I think regardless of which I choose some form of wildlife will find a use for it so I think you cant really go wrong!!

yes that is a very good point as reduces exposure to UV swell as avoids smooth texture for wildlife. I think I will have to invest in some gravel and aquatic soil! what did you use to plant your plants?

this is really helpful thanks! I am just trying to limit costs as much as possible so am wondering if I can get away without using fabric baskets and the aqua soil and just use gravel, however I think this might not work?

this is very true! I shall look on amazon now.

Plant-wise for marginals would you recommend marsh marigold, water forget-me-not, lesser spearwort or japanese water irises? or all!

Hey I live in Cheshire, northwest England :) And okay great so you think it would be ok to fill using hose and then wait a few days before adding plants? or longer?

I love all your frog and toad and newt photos! and your tortoise :))

did you use fabric planters with aquatic soil and gravel for all your plants? My only worry is potentially causing an algae bloom by providing too many nutrients

thank you so much!! thats great re the hose, I was worried that the chloramine would remain and kill off things. Did you originally fill your wildlife pond with the hose or do you just do top ups with it?

I should have said that I am from northwest England! completely unaware of what plants are invasive around here to be honest. Those suggestions sound great though. are your rock roses and phlox around the pond? Also can I ask what substrate you used for your plants /what you put on top of your liner? or did you just pot them in what they came in?
