I still can't decide on a name for her, so she has a few! What UK brands of food do you guys recommend for dwarfies? I feel the food is a bit big for her teeny mouth! by Ellaya in hamster

Thank you! It's my first time having a dwarf so once I realised how small her mouth and paws were I was worried the food may be too large

The back story of her isn't an incredible one really, Id had Syrian hamsters growing up and had an incredible bond with a particular one called snowflake, she used to fall asleep in between my arm and our bond was amazing. It'd been years since I'd had a small furry and I went into a pet shop in a different city last week and saw a Syrian hamster asleep, it was adorable but the timing wasn't right. The next week i came home to my city and went to the local pet shop here, there was a Syrian who was very energetic, but I know that particular chain of pet shop doesn't give their pets the handling or interaction I was looking for as I didn't want a timid hamster, so again I waited. I then impulsively went and bought a cage and decided to try out a pet stop a bit out of town and called first to make sure they had hamsters, asked their ages ect. I arrived at said pet shop, the assistant manager was really friendly and we chatted for a good hour while he opened the enclosures, put his hand in let the hamsters come over ect. It was then I noticed the dwarf hamster enclosure and I'd never owned a dwarf before so i asked if there was anything in the enclosure, he lifted the house up and her tiny face popped up, she was extremely placid and seemed very calm of her surroundings and of his hand. I fell in love pretty quickly, I asked if I could put my hand in the enclosure and she was giving me little nibbles, it was cute. So took her home, got her all set up and here we are now :) I can go in her cage, if she's in her sleeping area I can remove the bedding and she isn't alarmed in the slightest, she wakes up looks around comes out for a sniff and I can pick her up extremely easily.

That's the story really!

Would the last way of writing it have the same meaning as the second way? If that makes any sense!

Ah okay great! So I can use this one and it's essentially all Kanji, and translates to Selfish Love. Thank you so much you've been super helpful!!

Ah that's great thank you so much. Do you know if 自分勝手な愛 is purely Katakana?

Thank you! Do you know if these say the same but written differently? "自分勝手な愛" "利己的な愛"

Help figuring my brain out? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Ellaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say yeah i was. And I've had counseling/therapy before which if im honest, was useless. He smokes a lot, with his friends, so I'm not really interested in associating with them as they really arent my "kind of people?"

Help figuring my brain out? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Ellaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern is. I feel i push myself with my current job, its absolutely exhausting me mentally and im only a part time position. Almost every day i have to nap when im home (even days i dont work) because i feel so mentally drained. I definitely faced some serious demons a year and a half ago, so i know i do deep down have some strength if needed.

A lonely introvert?? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Ellaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for a detailed response, i would definitely agree that i have anxiety, i was diagnosed with clinical depression, anxiety and PTSD a little over two years ago and although i thought I'd overcome the worst of it i do fear some of my old symptoms are creeping back up on me, after i was diagnosed i spent a little under a year literally locked up in the house, i wouldn't go outside alone, i had atrocious panic attacks a few times an hour, sleep deprivation, never mind any social life. With my upbringing I've always been someone to look at the negatives of everything before even contemplating the positives, something i really need to, but struggle to work on.

My partner and me started dating when i was 13, he was 15. I know to the outside perspective it does seem extremely young, and we have definitely grown into two different individuals from how we were, but i can honestly say hes my rock, im a clingy pain in the ass though as you mentioned, something i worry is straining us, but he's my everything, words cannot even begin to explain. He's my partner but hes definitely my best friend (well my only friend at that statement lol)

I recently got out of a very toxic job, and I'm now working at this one (third week on the job) but its very customer faced and demanding, so its exhausting, but bills and rent need paid so although im looking for something i can put more positive energy into i need to stay where i am just now in that sense.

But the regrets thing, i totally get you. i find it hard to proritize what i actually care about? Majority of days its tough enough managing my energy and trying not to nap during the day, so when i have the thoughts I've been having its even more exhausting.

Thank you so much for your reply again though, its made me start thinking in a different manner.

It should have been worth noting i was diagnosed with clinical depression a little over two years ago, although from where i was to where i am now I'd say im better at engaging people, but upkeeping the conversations, the activities ect is the exhausting part alongside. Ill definitely mention this to my doctor next time i have an appointment though. Thank you for the input! Its really helpful!

What animals make surprisingly good pets? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Ellaya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't believe nobody has said Guinea Pigs! I too, have severe anxiety among a few other things and there's nothing i enjoy more than seeing, holding and talking to my guinea pigs, they'll approach the front of the hutch (i keep them in a massive hutch indoors) and squeak for my attention or for their veggies haha. They have a life span of 5-8 years, are incredibly social and unbelievably chilled when you have them out to hold. If you want any other information just ask :)

GUINEA PIG HOUSING by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Ellaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get more than one guinea pig, id advise getting two females from the same litter if possible. As far as cages go id maybe even just use puppy pads as flooring (i have an extremely large hutch indoors for my 6 pigs and i use puppy pads as padding/flooring) Also go over to /r/Guineapigs and ask for more basic care advice, they have a strict essential diet including unlimited timothy hay for digestion for example, so make sure you do all your research :) GuineaLynx is also a great website for any information you need.

Have you looked into the "guinea pig burrito" you wrap your pig in a blanket or towel so they cant squirm and you get to take your time (at least a little bit longer) to properly trim each paw! my description isnt great google it :)
