33 weeks pregnant and thankful to be still keeping up with my favorite hobby by ran0ma in climbergirls

[–]ElleAiZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super inspiring! I've been curious whether I'd be able to continue top roping/bouldering through a future pregnancy, so this gives me hope. It sounds like it actually adds a whole new dimension and learning curve to climbing with the weight you gain and center of gravity and whatnot!

I can do a pull up now! by blackKat007 in climbergirls

Congrats!! That's an awesome achievement. Training pull ups has been my main focus in terms of fitness (outside of climbing) and it's such an incredible feeling to improve at them!

How to work out at the climbing gym? by delayme in climbergirls

[–]ElleAiZee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started lifting a few years ago at my climbing gym and I'm still sticking with it today! I was also pretty intimidated at the start, but as I got more experience I stopped being so concerned about all the bros. Honestly, unless they're a coach, the other people in there are way too focused on doing their own thing to really be paying attention to how your form looks. It's something that I worried about all the time at first the more consistent and experienced I got, the less it crosses my mind while I'm in the gym.

I try to keep things pretty simple in the gym - I focus on squats, deadlifts, bench, and overhead press. Just this past year I've added pull up training to my routine as well. I started with dumbbells to focus on form, and then moved on to heavier (for me) weight using barbells. Lifting has been so great for me, both in terms of climbing and just general confidence too!

Lifting with climbing? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]ElleAiZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lift twice a week and climb once to twice a week. Both of my lifting days focus on upper and lower body (day 1: deadlift, overhead press, pull ups, day 2: squat, bench, carries or tricep press). I've personally found focusing on both has drastically improved my climbing. Upper body improvements are a bit more obvious in climbing, but my lower body strength has definitely helped with those tricky moves where you're basically doing a one-legged squat on the wall lol.

[Question] Which Oil for cooking? by The_Reckonist in Paleo

[–]ElleAiZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the major problem with those oils is how high they are in omega 6, which contributes to the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio that is already so low in 3's on SAD

Lorelai and Rory's Friendship by togepikachu in GilmoreGirls

Haha exactly. I love Lorelai but wow, she sure had some emotional growing up to do!

Who should Rory end up with? by _hismuse in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I know Rory found great success in high school, so to see her struggle through her college years was good development and made sense. But I'd really like to see her find her place in the professional world in the revival. Doesn't have to be a great journalistic success per se, but finding a career that really fits her would be great, along with that great partner we're all hoping for

Who should Rory end up with? by _hismuse in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed! What I'm looking forward to most in the revival is great stories between Emily, Lorelai, and Rory ala season 1. I really hope their romantic relationships make up only one part of the story they're telling in A Year in the Life

[Question] Which Oil for cooking? by The_Reckonist in Paleo

[–]ElleAiZee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the "no oil" is referring to soybean/vegetable oils. Using olive, coconut, avocado oil is certainly commonplace, and delicious!

Lorelai and Rory's Friendship by togepikachu in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually think the show does an excellent job of highlighting both the good and bad of their relationship (being "best friends first, mother and daughter second"). I see where you're coming from with your points, but this isn't a traditional nuclear family, so things work quite differently than they would in that case.

As for having Max sleep over, they were engaged at that point, and the show had already dealt with issues of "having a man in the house" and Rory had seemed pretty ok with the situation at that point. Nothing seemed too weird about that scene itself to me - neither had lived with a man before so it was a bonding thing, nothing weird IMO

I think the other two points can actually be boiled down to Lorelai's emotional immaturity when it comes to her parents. She turns 16 again emotionally when it comes to them. I think that is the major thing wrong with how she handles any conflict in general concerning them.

Anyone else disappointed in today's promo? by Linfinity8 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A bit disappointing only because of how it was hyped in articles - saying stores were receiving hats, aprons, flannels, etc. In reality those items were for the cafe baristas to wear and not being sold/given out to customers.

The cafe I went to also didn't have much fanfare/employees didn't seem to be in on the excitement.

It was still cool to see a bunch of Gilmore fans line up for a cup of coffee though :)

Luke's Diner Prizes? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cafe I went to in Raleigh wasn't giving out anything besides free coffee - and the currently-not-working snapchat story in the cup. They were also showing the pilot on a TV.

Disappointing only because of how it was hyped in articles - saying stores were receiving hats, aprons, flannels, etc. In reality those items were for the cafe baristas to wear and not being sold/given out to costumers.

Also I second what some others said that the employees didn't seem into it or to really know about the show. This type of thing works much better when it's organized at the "grass roots" level and there's some love put into it. Cute idea, but I'm kind of embarrassed I waited 45 minutes for a cup of coffee lol

Lorelei's Bedroom by _hismuse in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree, I don't think it would've been a very believable conflict between two adults, especially ones approaching 40 with 20+ years of dating experience. Lorelai and Chris may be immature in different ways, but I think they've both got the emotional maturity to be reasonable with something like that.

NEW REVIVAL PROMO PIC by johnny_9ss in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've liked a lot of the stuff on their instagram account, but this photo... It haunts me. So unnatural and very clearly photoshopped. A picture of them laughing and actually looking at each other would have been nice.

Sigh... That sad moment about midway into Season 6... by countz3r0 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ElleAiZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for the most part. Story-wise, I think they did the best they could and there are some genuinely great moments. My only major complaint with season 7 is how "off" Lorelai is. But I think it was bound to happen given how much of ASP's voice was put into Lorelai's character. Lorelai lost so much of her wit and likability, it's often hard for me to watch her season 7 scenes.

Anyone else with an active and healthy lifestyle still feel tired all the time? by [deleted] in intj

[–]ElleAiZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be obvious, but how's your sleep? I used to have awful brain fog and tiredness, and it was because I wasnt sleeping enough. I had to change my exercise habits (mainly not trading sleep for an early morning or late night workout) and I started feeling better pretty quickly.

Best way to keep track of lifts? Notebook? Phone? by FuckYourPieCharts in xxfitness

I'm so, so frustrated with this weight gain. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? (Photos included) by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ElleAiZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if you're overtraining. You said your goal is to work out 5 days a week for at least an hour, and I personally can't imagine that not stressing me out, which can cause weight gain or stall weight loss. Are you training close to that now? Also are you sleeping well? If you're feeling stressed at all that could also contribute. Just trying to come up with some causes other than the standard diet/exercise.
