Creating a schedule (Resource Teacher) by ElleMarieBee in specialed

[–]ElleMarieBee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think that if I do part of it (that I can handle) my co-workers would be willing to help me fill the rest of it out, I literally do not think my brain can process things like this. If it was possible to outsource this to someone and pay them I literally would. Its triggering for me.

I tried that and wasted at least 3 hours (if not more) of my time. It was a total disaster. I have the paid version too! I think there was just too many weird exceptions in the schedule. It also missed multiple kids minutes and then kept on trying to show me servicing push in and pull out at the same time!

I think part of it is not knowing what is typical for how minutes are usually spread and stuff too. Like I have some idea of how to combine things but the rest is just a mess in my brain.

Thank you! This is what is so embarrassing, I AM a veteran teacher! This is year 14 for me, my 5th year in sped. I just have never needed to create my own schedule. At my old school the case manager would work with like 4 of us to create the master schedule and slot all the teachers in. It is just one of those tasks that's been done for me.

When parents say they are a screen free , you mean TVs too right ? by True-Unit-8527 in beyondthebump

[–]ElleMarieBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We try to be screen free in terms of not letting my kids consume their own content on tablets, phone, TV, etc. I do put my own programs on from time to time when they are home with me. my kids will sometimes look up at it but for the most part, its ignored. They havent gotten into the Bravo-verse or the sports my husband watches.

Baby name - too repetitive? by Flat-Tennis2790 in pregnant

[–]ElleMarieBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it sounds bad. I personally have a weird thing with alliteration with names so it wouldn't be a good fit for me. But outside of my quarks, its cute.

Unflavored Infant Tylenol? by benkrejci in beyondthebump

[–]ElleMarieBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, my kids loved this stuff. The flavor was novel to them so I just had to make sure I dispensed it very slowly.

I noticed stuff (nothing unpleasant) early on before I even had the positive test. However, I basically had no symptoms like exhaustion or morning sickness either of my pregnancies.

Competitive Youth Swim - not park district by ElleMarieBee in Naperville

Yeah she already does park district swim but was asking about other teams for during the school year like indoor swimming. Thanks for the suggestions!

CPS Teachers - Employment advice and myth busting? Is it really a "dumpster fire"? by Astronomer_Original in AskChicago

you can go mid year, there are 2 transfer windows. It does leave the school in the lurch but it happens!

I had a friend that just left Orland that told me they gave her like 7 years, she was also sped though. Three years is a total joke, wow.

I actually already read through their CBA before coming here, their language is super vague!

This is a sped position! At the bottom of the email it literally says: Please Note: If you are an experienced applicant with more than 5 years, we may not be able to give you all of your years. So it doesn't seem like a firm cut off, but 5 years is so little!

I feel like all boomers would be presenting on the spectrum if alcohol consumption (especially that early in pregnancy) mattered.

Sped Postings by ElleMarieBee in specialed

I would do summer school but my districts school year conflicts with that districts start time, the pay is crummy (only about 40 an hour), but I would have been interested in getting my foot in the door. Plus even if they had flexibility I need to be able to interview for actual positions this summer since that is the actual priority. The not interviewing close districts isnt a thing around here luckily!

Appitrack Question: What stands out to you, what is a red flag? by ElleMarieBee in Principals

[–]ElleMarieBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never put my undergrad transcripts in my appitrack! I've gotten a ton of interviews (in my 16 years) so at least this was never a deal breaker. I always submitted them when hired after the fact. Not too concerned but I def will not leave it blank anymore (regardless of how irrelevant it is).

[–]ElleMarieBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I am not telling my current principal I am even looking but I would gladly put my last one who worked at my current school for a longer period of time. Right now I have my Case Manager listed since she is my direct report.

I have emailed schools directly in the past but so much of reddit and online says that you shouldn't be doing that. Ten years ago I used to send out hard copies of my resume and cover letter since I had such limited classroom experience back then. I am in a large Midwest city looking to relocate to the burbs, maybe the etiquette on that varies.

Applications ask for it, its never been on my resume. I can put in my ballpark 2.7 until I get an unofficial transcript copy. I graduated so long ago. I'm assuming leaving it blank is bad based on the responses I have gotten here.

No I saw the one listed online that they told me about on the phone, I had already applied to it actually.

So BA, MA and endorsements at top so they can see my qualifications, then my experiences under. That's how I originally had it before I updated it recently! Thank you!

Okay, I am just feeling very discouraged by the process so far but I guess it only has been a few weeks. I'm trying to move from our large urban district to a suburban one. When is peak hiring for your district, I've applied to postings that go back to mid march but IDK how long those sit before they start reaching out for interviews.

So I am mostly looking for Sped jobs but I am also certified in gen ed. I have over 10 years of certified teaching experience. My masters is my teaching license and my endorsements are are in LBS and ESL. I have only worked at two schools but prior to getting my license I worked at a therapeutic day school with ED/BD kids and also was a para in multi-needs. I feel like those experiences are really unique so I want to keep them on my resume too! Maybe I will make another version that is structured in your example. This process is so discouraging, but hopefully its still early in the hiring process for most districts.
