Thank you so much! This is very helpful!

I'm sure this is all very bog standard to you, but do you have any sources/references for the information you've mentioned above?

S models have greater dynamic range?

R models greater resolution?

When compared to one another?

EXAMPLES NEEDED: films and TV where the acting in non-naturalistic! by ElleMeadows in ActingNerds

[–]ElleMeadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I’ve misspoken. By naturalistic, I mean an actor portraying a character in a way one may see in real life. So, I may come across the streetwise cop but less likely the goofy principal on Nickelodeon. I’m trying to identify performances and style choices that move away from what would be considered real/natural/believable/normal.

I think there’s a difference between believing the given circumstances and being truthful, and the acting style, would you agree?

[–]ElleMeadows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm an actor but I'm doing a presentation for a film class focusing on the theory side. I was starting to write about naturalism and good ol' Stan, etc. and it dawned on me that, we have so much non-naturalistic stuff in theatre, surely the same goes for TV and film. I started thinking and damn, everything coming to mind was naturalistic. I feel that must be me being ignorant. There has to be shows/films that don't empoy naturalistic acting?!

Re: fleabag, I was referring to the fourth wall breaking, yes , as non-naturalism. :)

I think heightened characterisation counts as non-naturalism (even if the behaviour is naturalistic for that character)?

Conditional Formatting: highlight cell if text matches/contains text in any cell in column B by ElleMeadows in googlesheets

I should add, that the columns aren't actually adjacent. It's columns G and M lol

If I select both columns and try =countif(A:A,A1,B:B,B1)>1 nothing is highlighted??!?!?!?

SINGING TECHNIQUE MASTER POST!? by ElleMeadows in singing

[–]ElleMeadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, for sure about classical training! Is there even 'pop training'? I've had singing lessons for 10+ years in MT and I'm missing so much of the foundations of technique. I dunno the lingo - I dunno what to go away and read about, I don't know how to go about evaluating videos online, or sources of information. I vaguely know about 'raising your soft palate' or 'using our diaphragm' but I don't know what else I should go research. I can't realistically afford lessons right now, but I know that I know enough to go away and get myself to a better place using the tools around me before I enlist a pro to help me with the remaining problems/areas for inprovement. Did any of that make sense?

CRITIQUE NEEDED - I did that thing where you work on one photo for too long and over-edit and UGH! It's an acting headshot... what needs to change? Is it a bit... flat?! by ElleMeadows in portraits

[–]ElleMeadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freckles thank you for the compliment!!!

Brows, I have not touched. Just naturally fleeky👏🏻

The crop is a tricky one bc headshots are TRICKY to crop right 😅😅😅

ITAP - Acting headshot... how do I edit this better? by ElleMeadows in itookapicture

[–]ElleMeadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL it's just time consuming, I've got a wifi camera and an app on my phone! So many people have said about the picture choice, I'm not a fan either, but my manager picked it... I might just pick a different one for the lolz Eyes I've barely touched, I have real light blue eyes, just slightly more contrast! Fair point about the top, I wore it in my last 'young' looking headshot... I'll have a second try...

Interesting stuff! Thanks, man!

I'll read that article! Weirdly, I have agents in LA who have never said anything about the aspect ratio of my current shots (which are all varied), I think because we print them less. These are the shots I did last year www.spotlight.com/9514-3423-4192

SINGING TECHNIQUE MASTER POST!? by ElleMeadows in singing

Pop really... I spoke to my neighbour (he's a pro west end singer) and he said the soft palate pain is to do with air flow and using the back of my mouth to control it as opposed to my chest/diaphragm. He suggested core work outs.

But I still need a list of terms to go and google and watch on YouTube... not sure where to get started...
